The Center for Public Relations of the FSB of the Russian Federation reports on the prevention of a terrorist act in St. Petersburg. The report refers to the detention of representatives of the cell of the terrorist group "Islamic State" (* prohibited in Russia). From the published material:
In St. Petersburg, the illegal activities of the secret cell of supporters of the MTO (international terrorist organization) IG *, who planned to carry out resonant terrorist acts of 16 December by means of a suicide bomber in a religious institution, as well as killing civilians and explosions of IEDs (improvised explosive devices ) in places of mass stay of people.
The press release says that as a result of a special operation, security officers detained 7 members of the terrorist underground.
The submission states that a significant amount of explosives, as well as components of explosive devices, have been seized from terrorists. In addition, gunmen found firearms weapon, ammunition, extremist literature.

Recall that in April of this year, a suicide bomber Akbarzhon Jalilov (a native of Kyrgyzstan, a citizen of the Russian Federation) carried out an act of terrorism in the St. Petersburg metro. 16 people died, more than 100 injured.
