By 25 thousand euros will be transferred to the UN Children's Fund UNICEF and the International Organization for Migration IOM. This desire to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine is based on information from 28 November, received from the OCHA coordinating humanitarian bureau that this country lacks 146,7 million US dollars, or 72% of the required amount, to update the humanitarian aid plan.told the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry.
According to the ministry, “the conflict in the east of Ukraine directly affected 4,4 a million people, four million needed humanitarian assistance, 10,2 thousands of people died, 24,5 thousands suffered”.
Seventy percent of the citizens of this country who need humanitarian assistance are elderly people, women and children,reported in the Foreign Ministry with reference to UN data.
This year, Lithuania has already allocated thousands of euros to 280 for humanitarian assistance to countries affected by natural disasters and conflicts: Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Mali, Sri Lanka, Dominica.
