The most powerful in the world: how the Russian Federation prevented the conversion of the Tu-160 into a pile of Ukrainian bolts and nuts

The Tu-160 strategic missile bomber, better known as the “White Swan”, is a middle-aged machine: December will be exactly 36 years from the day this aircraft first took to the air. However, until now he is the absolute world champion in a number of parameters (speed, range, airborne without refueling, payload, etc.) characterizing long-range bomber aircraft. And, according to international military experts, it will remain so, at least until the end of the 2020-s.

We bought 8 boards ... and the remaining three dozen anyway "into a bunch of bolts and nuts" ... so that they "prevented" a little, new Swans, crazy horses were cut with a flying time of 100 hours ..

I personally saw a similar thing at the airport in Engels, which "bit" the plane. When I saw, our heart was pinched. What nonsense? I ask. And to me in response: "Under an agreement with the Americans, we destroy planes,"
So not only the "horses" tried.

So this is a question for Yeltsin! Why didn't he buy everything? Why didn’t they buy TU-22m3 ?? After all, they also offered Ukrainians! In general, as far as I remember, negotiations took a long time. Not one year. Did not agree on the price. So who to blame, if they themselves said that it is not necessary? And the price was ridiculous compared to the one that is being laid out to build the new Tu-160.
Tu-160 is a very expensive aircraft. For existing tasks, it is redundant. Supersound is no longer necessary, since it is not necessary to enter the air defense zone with missiles with a range of more than 5000 km on board. A plane like the much cheaper Tu-95 can do just that.

Or didn’t want to? If they had not given, then they would have given nothing! And to buy Tu-22M3, they certainly would. And about the cheap U-2, your sarcasm is clearly not a success! U-2 does not take on board modern missiles. It is appropriate to cite as a comparison those carriers that can take the X-101. For information, the U-2 weighs 4 times less than the rocket itself.

Well, well ... In total, it was built (taking into account 5 boards for testing), if my memory serves me - 34-35 aircraft ... Even more so, now there are 5 boards in the ZHLiDB, well, say ... a dozen "Central Europeans" were cut.

Well, one, Sergei Ivanovich, in Poltava as an exhibit, but it’s still not a dozen cut, maybe more (three dozen, of course I’m in a rage), but still a lot and it’s a pity.

8 boards were given for debts, one to the museum, there were 10 left. Where did 2 more dozens come from? In Priluki there were 19 boards!
Ukraine acceded to the Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms of July 31, 1991, the terms of which required the completion of the disposal of all heavy bombers by December 4, 2001. The most obvious option was the sale of strategic aviation systems in Russia. Since 1993, this issue has been raised more than 20 times, but everything rested on the size of compensation. There were no precedents for the sale of strategic bombers on the international arms market, and the prices of the former USSR also did not provide a solution. In 1993, about $ 3 billion was proposed for aircraft, ground command and control centers, auxiliary equipment, technical documentation, and long-range cruise missiles. At that time, the announced price was almost two times higher than the debt of Ukraine for Russian gas.
In May 1994, the amount requested by Ukraine reached $ 8 billion. In turn, the Russian side proposed to build on the factory price of serial products in 1991, taking into account depreciation and the actual state of aviation equipment. For this, in 1993, 1994 and in April 1995, Russian specialists came to Uzin and Priluki to check the operability of military equipment. At the last visit, it was noted that only 15% of aircraft have airworthiness.
The Russian proposal for the exchange of bombers for tactical aircraft and their spare parts, previously accepted in a similar situation by Kazakhstan, did not find support either. In April - May 1999, they also discussed the option of exchanging 11 Tu-160 and Tu-95MS for 11 An-22 and An-124 aircraft of the Russian military transport aviation.
On April 17, 1998, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine made a final decision on the elimination of the strategic aviation missile systems Tu-95MS and Tu-160. At the same time, financing for their elimination should have been funded by the US government under the agreement "On Assisting Ukraine in the Elimination of Strategic Nuclear Weapons and Preventing the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction", signed on November 25, 1993 between Ukraine and the United States.
It was also reported that the project for the cutting and disposal of Tu-160 was developed jointly with ANTK them. O.K. Antonova, who received about 5 million UAH for him.

there are 3 more regiments that 22 can be remembered at the same time. If you want a more impressive figure.
By treaties, Ukraine was forbidden to have YES and missiles. Valid contracts are still prohibited. Even rockets with a radius of 500 km ..
Ukraine’s actions are limited by the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate and Short-Range Missiles

By 1991, 19 aircraft arrived in Priluki, of which two squadrons were formed. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, 8 of them were returned to Russia.

It’s a pity that they couldn’t fly away on their own. Without any bidding. But these are claims to the Ministry of Defense.

Everyone heard that the “Admiral Kuznetsov” from Ukraine essentially escaped. But stories have not yet been told how pilots from the Union republics flew to Russia. I heard that an air regiment flew out from under Baku, loading family members into bomb bombs and taking only a minimum of clothing. The commanders of units from Grozny, contrary to the order of the Ministry of Defense, to leave the weapons local, took out weapons and ammunition risking their lives. I hope we still find out the names of these heroes.

February 13, 2011 marks the 19th anniversary of the hijacking of six Su-24s from the 6 BAP (Starokonstantinov, Ukraine) in Shatalovo (Russia). Together with the planes, the banner of the regiment was stolen (exported to Russia by car). Documentation for aircraft (forms, passports) remained in Ukraine.
      The noise was great then.

This noise did not allow to hijack the Tu-160 ...
      And it was preparing))
Much could be told then by the deputy commander of the regiment of the sub-command of Zhikharev Anatoly Dmitrievich ... now you know his position !!! Sincerely, Comrade General

It is unfortunate that it happened. Probably no one was doing this centrally. But it was possible.
In the 60 years, Israel ordered several torpedo (or missile) boats from France. France refused to transfer finished boats due to sanctions. Then Mossad simply stole them from the harbor and ferried them to Israel on their own.
What can I say - well done.

Recently showed one admiral. He complained that half pensions were being held in compensation for a ship illegally sold for metal. But claims that he has nothing to do with it. The government was selling, and he is just a switchman.

In so now, planes are being built in Ukraine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilIJAUrh8Tg, the plant is in poor condition, workers at an old age, a dozen unfinished gliders have been standing in the workshop for years.
