Japan began assembling a fifth-generation technology demonstrator fighterToday, the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) plant began assembling a full-scale prospective technology demonstrator ATD (Advanced Technology Demonstrator) for full-scale structural testing. Production of ATD is made under a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Japan, under which the aircraft will be used for flight tests and development of advanced, including Stealth technology for future Japanese fighters. With the start of the assembly, the ATD project has now moved to the production stage.

This morning, the First Rivet ceremony was held at the Tobishima Plant of Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works, MHI in Aichi Prefecture. Among the participants in the ceremony were Director General of the Technical Research & Development Institute Yoshitaka Akiyama, Chief of Staff of the Air Defense Force Haruhiko Kataoka, and Executive Vice President and Head of MHI's Aerospace Systems Takashi Kobayashi (Takashi Kobayashi).

During the ceremony, the fuel cell frame was connected to the front of the fuselage, which will contain electronic equipment.

The ATD prototype project was developed in the 2009 fiscal year (April 2009 - March 2010) during the development of the next generation fighter aircraft in neighboring countries. As expected, the prototype will make the first flight in 2014 year. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2017.

So the Japanese did not give a damn about their Constitution ... The army will be and the army will be contrary to the previously expressed will of the people ... And the prototype .. Let's see ...

Japan has long really abandoned its self-defense forces .. All that remains is the name ... Therefore, their weapons and equipment are being developed as in other developed countries ...

I also periodically recall the 9th article of the Constitution of Yap:
"Sincerely striving for international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounces war as the sovereign right of the nation, as well as the threat or use of armed force as a means of resolving international disputes."
But I do not think that the development of technology is an aggressive action involving military action.
The Japanese can really contribute to the aircraft industry.
And the world trend now is that it is better to develop the defense industry, and not just deal with presentation equipment, but build sushi bars.

Well, yes, yes, instead of rebuilding people’s housing and helping to render the apostle tsunama, we’ll do something here!
The Japanese have such a terrible neighbor, albeit a neighbor’s fish is stolen and his mongrel is barked to the ground but he doesn’t give in his face but, all the same, terrible! fool

Ardent, why did you write all this? They are rebuilding their country after the tsunami, and at such a pace that Mom does not grieve.
And which of the many neighbors did you mean? China, DPRK, Russia?
Correctly do that develop weapons. To do this, they have both technology and personnel and production facilities! And what comes of this, wait and see!

As an eyewitness, I would like to see how fast villages in Russia were rebuilt after the fires of 2010. The speed exceeded reasonable limits. From here and all the "shoals" about which I warned the guys from technical supervision even then. But what are these cracks in comparison with the Japanese "jambs" when the houses built for the victims "fonat" not worse than Fukushima itself? !!! And one more thing: quite recently, on the anniversary of the tragedy, there was a report from Japan, they interviewed a former employee of the station and, naturally, a "liquidator", lives with his family in a trailer with a leaking roof, is full of optimism, says: "In about a year I will save up money and Take off housing in houses that the government is building for the victims. "And then I remembered the story of friends from the affected village:" The house was an old "shack", and now a new cottage, new furniture, household appliances that we never dreamed of. "Yes, not all are like that. both with us and with them. And do not understand me correctly, at that moment I did not feel any schadenfreude or patriotic enthusiasm. I caught myself on a strange feeling that I was terribly uncomfortable for Japan.

The Japanese government has adopted a strategy for the development of the armed forces for the next ten years, which spelled out large-scale changes in national defense policy.

The main threats in the document are China, with which Japan shares its southern maritime border, and North Korea, which revealed the existence of a uranium enrichment plant.

The document says that the PRC's build-up of its armed forces is a "global threat."

If Japan thinks that it will be able to increase its armament in order to be able to withstand the DPRK, PRC RUS. That they obviously do not need 10 years for this.

I agree partially. The parameter level of technological development in Japan slightly decreased compared to 2008 and amounted to 4,0, which is still one of the best in the world. High-tech production accounts for 20% of total GDP, so Japan is very attractive for the implementation of scientific developments.

And may the Fourth World begin, huh? Nothing to do at all?

The fifth-generation Japanese fighter ... hmm, special attention should be paid to the invisibility and a large charge of trinitrotoluene on board, so that you could quietly get to the enemy ships and without resorting to over-maneuverability break them down below the waterline. Of course, not forgetting to drink a cup of sake before that.

I have great respect for Japanese engineers. But in military aviation ...
The Mitsubishi F-2 / FS-X fighter is a Japanese fighter-bomber developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Lockheed Martin for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. In 1982, Japan embarked on research aimed at creating a 1st century fighter. The new aircraft was supposed to replace the third generation Mitsubishi F-22 fighter-bomber, which, due to its short range and low combat load, did not suit the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF). All of this led to the emergence of a project known as Next Fighter Support Aircraft or FS-X. On November 1985, XNUMX, the official requirements for the new aircraft were released.
In 1999, they were going to begin deliveries of serial fighters, but in June of this year, fatigue cracks were revealed in the power elements of the wing on all prototype aircraft. It was also announced that flutter occurs due to insufficient wing rigidity. The flights had to be suspended, the wing was reworked, and then a new cycle of strength tests was carried out, which ended in December 1999. The flights were resumed in March 2000. The delivery dates for serial fighters were postponed several more times, and in the end they began only in 2002. By the beginning of 2009, 50 F-2A and 30 F-2Bs entered the troops. The vehicles have original "sea" camouflage. Interestingly, Mitsubishi F-2 fighters are increasingly called the Viper Zero, as if emphasizing the historical connection of the new aircraft with the legendary fighter of the Second World War. "

In general, the flag in their hands. Let's look at the result.

And what is there in the Japanese doctrine about Russia? The Kurils want - we know. What does Japan think about the "threat from the North"? Or diplomatically keeping quiet, fishing in our waters and supplying radioactive cars and spare parts? request

Well, develop, assemble a prototype. We already have the 5th generation, and by the 14th year it will be in the series. After staging in a series, ours is sure to get down to designing the 6th generation. That's the whole conversation. Judging by the photo, not particularly impressive. The engine will probably be alone and the fastest Amerovsky. So there is nothing to envy. And the fact that self-defense forces are slowly mutating into the army was to be expected. This is done under pressure from states that need an attacking satellite, not a defender. Let them mutate further, even though the Japs are noble warriors, not a couple of the same amers. In terms of face, they received pretty much from us, and we, too, from them, but we were always better than them in strength of spirit and stamina. No wonder the former Japanese emperors were guarded by Russian fighters.

A fighter is a weapon of both defense and attack. And with neighbors such as China, the development of such an aircraft is a natural step that does not require pushing from overseas.

What a flight of fancy. And when was that? And which emperors were guarded? The most superficial knowledge of Japanese history is enough to know that this not only never happened, but could not be.

The Japanese, too, by the 14th may be the 5th generation in the series. Another thing is that the Japanese are afraid to fight, remember the 2nd World War! But our people remember about it (the war) only on May 9th ... Yes, and about veterans as well ....

Airplane (glider) is only part of the combat complex!
We also need, at a minimum, rockets, AFAR, engines - these technologies do not have japs.
Conclusion - our T-50 is doing it.

I completely agree, Japan is very valuable for the states, I would say not even a satellite, but a fully controlled (occupied) state with a powerful economy. They will never let go of the leash; through them and even the South Koreans, they conduct their policy in the region. For Russia, it is much better that the Yapi were completely independent and have their own powerful army with nuclear weapons, then no one can point them out, and only then can we build normal relations with them on equal terms as two great powers. Now it is absolutely impossible, because their foreign policy is the policy of Washington ..

A cool airplane, I generally like it, everything that makes Mitsubishi :)

Why is 5e right away? They have a pretty decent 4th generation fighter, the FS-X! Moreover - single-engine, which indicates a high level of engine traction. The MiG-29 designers also complained that if the engine were more powerful, they would have made the LFI single-engine. And the Japanese did not launch it in a series, since it came out a little expensive, they limited themselves to Amer F-15s. The most interesting thing is that everything is too expensive for the Japanese, even tanks! It can be imagined that at a price compared to the Japanese 5th generation, the Amersky F-22 and F-35 RELAX !!! laughing AND THIS IS GUT !!! For us! laughing

the Japanese are doing the right thing. and I don’t think that the United States pushed for development, it’s just not profitable for the Japanese to do their 5th generation, but they need to get the f35 involved. so the United States later probably boil probably raise. and the Americans came up with a constitution for the Japanese at 45, and I think that the Japanese are an independent country and let them do what they want! A good hardworking nation!
