On October 22, US-backed VTS announced that they had established control over the Omar oil fields on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in the eastern part of Deir-ez-Zor province. One of the official representatives of the VTS, Lilwa Al-Abdullah, said in a statement that the VTS "were able to free the deposits without significant losses."
