Until the end of 2017, Albania will receive 5000 rifles of Beretta AR70 / 90 caliber 5,56 × 45 mm. In addition, two Italian-made Iveco LMV armored SUVs will be handed over to the Albanian armed forces. The transfer of armaments is carried out by the Italian military department in support of a strategic ally in the Balkans.

Weapon and vehicles are intended primarily for arming the 2 Infantry Battalion of the Albanian Army, which is part of the NATO rapid reaction force. To date, the Albanian army is armed mainly with ASh-78 and ASh-82 (AK copies) assault rifles of 7,62 × 39 mm.
Rifle Beretta AR70 / 90 is an upgraded version of the Beretta AR70, developed in 70-e years. In 2009, the Italian army adopted the ARX-160 rifles, which gradually replaced the Beretta AR70 / 90 in the military, reports "Warspot".
