Happy Ground Forces, Russia!
Congratulations to all our readers on the Day of the Ground Forces!
The holiday is officially celebrated since 31 in May 2006, when President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin signed Decree No. 549 “On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”, which ordered to celebrate the “Day of the Ground Forces” on October 1.
The date chosen for the Day of the Ground Forces is not accidental. It was 1 of October 1550 of the year, the Grand Prince of Moscow and Tsar of All Russia Ivan the Terrible issued the Verdict “On the premises of the elected thousand servicemen” in Moscow and surrounding counties, which in fact became the starting point in the formation and development of our country's land forces.
Ground forces of the Russian Armed Forces include the following types of troops: Motorized rifle troops, Tank troops, Missile forces and artillery, Air Defense Forces of the Ground Forces, Special Forces.
Some of these types of troops also have their narrow professional day, for example, the Day of the Tankman, the Day of the Rocket Forces and Artillery, the Day of the Air Defense, and so on.
Nevertheless, the commander-in-chief of the Russian army found it necessary to create a “Day of the Ground Forces” in order to seal the battle fraternity between the different branches of the ground forces.
Undoubtedly, ground troops are no less significant than those included in the nuclear triad. For it is not for nothing that it is said that “until the foot of an infantryman set foot on the ground during the battle, this territory is not considered conquered or liberated from the enemy”.
Artillery, "god of war", tanks, steel shield, mother infantry - this is also a kind of triad. But the actions of this triad are impossible without all the other components, including the Special Forces.
Special forces include:
Engineering troops;
Troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBZ);
Signal Corps;
Electronic warfare troops (EW);
Railway troops (railway);
Automotive troops;
Road troops;
Pipeline troops.
It is difficult to imagine normal work without these troops. Communication is that without which battles and wars lose, but they do not win.
EW - this is what will deprive the enemy of communication, knock off the course of the rocket, airplanes and helicopters.
RCBZ - God forbid that they never come in handy.
Railway, automobile, road and pipeline troops are a reliable supply with everything you need. This is a link between the front and the rear. This is a helping hand to cutting edge.
These types of special troops fall under the definition of "type of troops", as they have a separate organization within the structure of the Armed Forces and centralized control.
But besides them in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as part of formations and associations there are separate military units for the organization and functional purpose of which cannot be attributed to one or another type of the above special forces, but they also participate in the process of combat and rear support of troops. The wording of the troops - is not officially applied to them. The terms part and connection of any service either providing / assignment or formation apply to them.
Special intelligence. The detachments and brigades of the GRU special forces, the long arms of the army, are able to reach anyone;
Medical service. Low bow to military doctors for their work;
Military topographers. Actual even in the age of satellites and GLONASS.
Technical support. Skillful hands, able to solve if not all the problems that have arisen with the technique, then most of them are the majority.
Material security. The rear service that can replenish any spent material components.
The ground forces today are a complex organism, the precise interaction of which can ensure the fulfillment of any task. Gunners will not be able to ensure the normal interaction of infantry and tankers, if they do not have shells. Tanks will not support the infantry if there is no fuel. Signalers will not be able to transmit orders and any information in the case of suppression of ranges by means of EW. And so on.
All components of the Ground Forces are important and valuable. It is impossible, and unjustly, to single out some kind of squad / type of troops into the main ones, and some to include them as secondary ones. All troops are important.
