British Prime Minister Theresa May believes that Europe is facing increasing threats, among which she highlighted terrorism, cybercrime, migration, and "Russian aggression." The politician made a statement on the eve of the EU summit on digital technologies, which will be held on Friday in Tallinn. On Friday, together with French President Emmanuel Macron and Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas, she will visit the Estonian military town in Tapa.
From terrorism to cybercrime, from illegal migration to Russian aggression - the threats facing us, the Europeans, are becoming bigger and more complex. Now, more than ever, it is in our interests to oppose them together
- May's words are quoted in the office on Thursday.
TASS communique
The prime minister noted the crucial role of the United Kingdom in ensuring European security.
The UK has the largest defense budget in Europe, a broad diplomatic network, world-class security services, intelligence and law enforcement, occupies a place at the heart of NATO, and its role in providing European defense has never been so vital
- said May.
Separately referring to the topic of NATO, the head of the British Cabinet announced the intention of London to continue to be an active member of the North Atlantic Alliance.
NATO remains the cornerstone of joint security, and there is no more vivid evidence of London’s commitment to European security than the British 800 military men in Tapes, who play a leading role in NATO’s military formation and stand shoulder to shoulder with their Estonian, French and, soon, Danish allies
- noted the Prime Minister.
