Haley: US insists on IAEA inspections of Iran’s military facilities

The United States insists on inspections of Iran’s military facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as part of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (DIPA), said the country's permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, criticizing Russia for allegedly protecting Iran.
The US Permanent Mission on Thursday noted that the IAEA Director General, in an interview with Reuters, spoke in favor of providing more clarity on inspections of the so-called provision "T" of the SAPS, which prohibits the development of nuclear explosive devices.
At the same time, the agency notes that Russia objects that the IAEA may, by agreement, verify this activity. The US mission also noted media reports that Russia "does not believe that these inspections fall under the mandate of the IAEA."
If an agreement on Iran has any meaning, the parties should have a common understanding of its terms. Iranian officials have already said they refuse to allow inspections at military sites, even if the IAEA says that there should be no difference between military and non-military facilities. Now it seems that some countries are trying to protect Iran from large inspections. Without inspections, a deal with Iran is an empty promise
