Philippines will begin to purchase Russian weapons
41
Philippine Foreign Minister Alan Peter Cayetano in an interview RIA News reported that official Manila sent to Moscow a request to buy Russian weapons. It is noted that at present, procedures are being carried out to develop schemes for financing weapons supplies from the Russian Federation. The issue of the payment scheme is trying to resolve through the Philippine Ministry of Finance.
According to some information, at the first stage we are talking about the acquisition by the Philippines of Russian small arms for the needs of the army and other security forces.
It was noted that coordination of the future visit of the head of the Russian defense ministry Sergei Shoigu to Manila continues. It is planned that this autumn between Russia and the Philippines a package of documents will be signed, among which is an agreement on military-technical cooperation between the two countries.
Recall that relations between Moscow and Manila became more trusting after the new President Rodrigo Duterte came to power in the Philippines.
At the same time, Duterte significantly limited the contacts of the Philippine authorities with the American "partners". Not so long ago, the head of the Philippines refused to impose American "assistance" in an operation against ISIS terrorists (* prohibited in Russia) in the city of Maravi on the island of Mindanao.
