There is no place for storage of radioactive waste in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

Representatives of the Ukrainian press service State Agency for the management of the exclusion zone publish a summary of the status of the storage of nuclear waste. The submission says that about 20 thousand cubic meters of radioactive waste in a liquid state managed to accumulate in the Chernobyl zone. This waste is located in special containers on the territory of two previously created repositories.
Agency specialists say that if we talk about processing all this waste, then it may take at least 29 years. However, even if recycling takes place, it will lead to the appearance of 300 thousands of packages to be disposed of. This is more than 4 times the storage capacity of the Vektor special production complex. Storage is designed only for 70 thousands of such packages.
Meanwhile, it is reported about the beginning of the relevant work.
Apparently, the Ukrainian side is once again trying to get funds from foreign partners who understand that Ukraine itself is not going to engage in efficient disposal of nuclear waste and its storage (without external financial investments).
Recall that earlier in the Chernobyl zone was completed the construction of a new sarcophagus, the funds for which were allocated to the European partners of Kiev, clearly not willing to face the "nuclear" surprises.
