The first freight trains passing the temporary operation section transported wagons with grain, iron ore raw materials and construction materials. Test operation will check the readiness of the railway infrastructure, the operation of traffic control systems, and also prepare locomotive brigades.
We are talking about the railway section Zhuravka (Voronezh region) - Millerovo (Rostov region). This site goes around the territory of the Luhansk region, controlled by the armed forces of Ukraine. Passengers of trains passing in the direction of the Kuban and back, in the area of the Ukrainian territory a few dozen meters from the railroad tracks could see Ukrainian checkpoints with armored vehicles.
When the test movement of freight trains is completed, passenger trains will go along the Zhuravka-Millerovo branch. According to the latest data, such a movement on an ongoing basis will be launched within the next two months. And the types of Ukrainian BTR from the window of the car will remain in the past.
The new railway line has a length of 137 km. On her way, seven absolutely new railway stations were built. In the Russian Railways, they declare that the new branch will allow this section to pass to fast trains at maximum speed in 140 km / h.
