Acts of a la Breivik in Norway are quite possible. And intelligence will not save them
The attacks of terrorists on the subjects of Norway in the style of Anders Breivik may well be repeated. This was told to journalists by the head of the intelligence service of the Kingdom, Roger Berg. In his opinion, there is a possibility that a terrorist, like Breivik, will make similar attacks.
R. Berg presented a report to the public on the 37 pages devoted to the intelligence services before and after the Breivik attacks. This is the agency "Interfax".
Speaking on behalf of the country's intelligence services, Berg noted that he regrets that the scouts did not prevent the attacks. Also he said. that from the point of view of intelligence, Breivik is a lone terrorist with a strange worldview.
According to him, Breivik planned future attacks alone and for many years. The Norwegian Intelligence Service cannot conduct special investigations to identify people like Breivik.
As Berg pointed out, the public needs to look at other social mechanisms, at raising children, at schools, to think about caring for each other. Society must decide on how best to arrange its future, and on what strategic steps should be taken - so that such incidents do not happen again.
The victims of the double-act of terrorism that Anders Breivik arranged for 22 July 2011 were seventy-seven people. At the Oslo government complex, he organized an explosion that killed 8 people, and a few hours later Breivik opened fire at the youth camp of the Norwegian Labor Party on Fr. Utaya near the capital of Norway. The victims of the second terrorist attack were 69 people.
After the first interrogations, Breivik confessed to the attacks, but did not plead guilty. Against the murderer was charged under Art. 147 Norwegian Criminal Code - in the commission of a terrorist act in the form of premeditated murder.
Defenders of Breivik say that his guilt will need to be proved in court - despite the confession. According to the lawyers, if Breivik is considered mentally normal, then he can be given 21 a year in prison (maximum term). But if Breivik is considered irresponsible, then, most likely, he will be prescribed compulsory treatment.
As previously reported in the media, doctors who examined the terrorist in the Il prison, where he has been detained since the summer of 2011, have already concluded that the criminal was insane. But the Oslo District Court of 13 on January 2012 appointed other experts to carry out the Breivik Mental Health Examination.
Recall that the trial in the case of Breivik will begin on April 16.
