Now is not the time to talk about the possible admission of new countries to the EU, so the issue of providing Ukraine with membership prospects today is not on the EU agenda, said the head of the European Union’s representation in Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli, in an interview with Ukrainian newspapers published on Tuesday "Today".

In the EU, there is a confrontation, the European Union has faced some challenges and is going through a rather difficult period. The EU is very focused on these challenges - migration, terrorism, the Greek crisis, etc. The European Union intends to continue to concentrate on this, and now is not the time to talk about the possible admission of new countries to the EU. Therefore, the issue of providing Ukraine with the prospect of membership today is not on our agenda

Recall that at the end of August, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that Ukraine currently has no relation to the European Union or NATO, and everyone should be aware of this. Juncker’s statements did not go unnoticed by Kiev - Nikolai Tochitsky, the representative of Ukraine to the European Union, turned to the European Commission for explanations regarding the statements made by EC President Jean-Claude Juncker about Ukraine’s membership in NATO and the EU. I wonder what answer Kiev hoped for?

Also today it became known that Ukraine risks being left without 600 million euros of EU macro-financial assistance if the Verkhovna Rada does not abolish the moratorium on the export of unprocessed wood, said the head of the European Union representation in Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli.

If Ukraine does not lift the ban on the export of round timber, 600 million euros - the third tranche of macro-financial assistance - will be lost. The decision will be made before the end of this year, which means you should receive money at the beginning of 2018. But again, there are still six to seven conditions in the fight against corruption, social benefits for immigrants, in the field of trade, energy, which have not been fulfilled by Ukraine. And if it remains that way - you won’t get the money.
Said the ambassador.

So, if you want money, sell your lands, forests and natural resources. This message of the EU clearly says that at present Ukraine has turned from an industrial country into a raw materials appendage of the West, in which it remains only to sell the remaining lands and people. But Poroshenko will once again be broadcasting from the podium that the country is already in the EU and financially independent of anyone.
