Moldovan government will send the military to Ukraine, contrary to the decree of Dodon
Dodon said that such actions are similar to "an attempt to usurp power." He recalled that "criminal liability for violation of the oath and betraying national interests does not have a statute of limitations."
Earlier, the government, despite the ban on Dodon, approved the participation of the Moldovan military in the exercises, which will be held from 7 to 23 in September. However, Dodon, as commander in chief, overturned the decision of the Cabinet. According to the law, the president must approve the dispatch of the military to exercises outside of Moldova.
The 57 Moldovan military is scheduled to participate in the Rapid Trident exercise. They should go to Ukraine without weapons, ammunition and military equipment, and the cost of participation is borne by the organizers.
This is not the first conflict between the President of Moldova and the government of the country. Earlier, the Cabinet asked to consider at the UN General Assembly the issue of the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country. Dodon called the initiative "an empty PR move." The government also initiated a number of unfriendly measures against Russia. The president, in turn, has repeatedly stressed that he is seeking to improve the country's relations with Moscow.
