Patria armored personnel carriers have been in service with the Croatian army for several years, but only a small part of them are equipped with combat modules with 12,7-mm machine guns. Due to the lack of weapons, Croatian soldiers called these armored personnel carriers "the most expensive military trucks in the world", but next year the situation will change radically. It became known that in the tender for the supply of combat modules for the armored personnel carrier Patria won a joint offer of the Israeli companies Elbit and Rafael. At first, these companies participated in the tender separately from each other and competed with the Croatian company Đuro Đaković Special Vehicles Inc, but later merged and put together a single offer.

The combat module with the 30-mm cannon and the Elbit and Rafael Spike-LR ATGMs was more than twice as cheap as the Javelin ATGM module from Đuro aković. The Israeli offer will cost the Croatian Ministry of Defense 93,6 million kuna ($ 14,9 million), while the Croatian company has requested over eight modules over 211 million kuna ($ 33,6 million).
The assembly of combat modules will be carried out in Israel, and their installation - in Croatia. In the Croatian military department, they expect to complete the arming of eight “Patrii” during 2018, after which a decision will be made on further purchases. Total armed with the Croatian army is 126 Patria armored personnel carriers.
