7-I military base
Returning to places where previously served is always interesting. I want to see what has changed, what is not, to find out whether there are still former colleagues. He was not at the base from the very day of May 2010, when he went on vacation, followed by his dismissal.
Due to the fact that the base is located on the territory of a foreign state that borders on an unfriendly Russian state, the possibilities for shooting certain moments of combat training and livelihoods were limited. For example, you will not see faces of servicemen and weapons will be quite a bit. On some of your questions, too, sometimes I will have to give no answers.
With regards to technology. The entire base during my service in 2008-2009 was significantly re-equipped with new types of equipment and little has changed since then. All the same T-90А, BTR-80, communication and reconnaissance vehicles, only the automotive technology in 2010 was replaced with a new one, incl. and armored KAMAZ.
On the base, at last, there appeared its own shooting range, where you can practice shooting training.

In the photo, by the way, the fighters of my native battalion. The entire base sports new helmets of the 6B2x series, but ours were unlucky, the battalion was prepared first for posts in the Kodori gorge and the same US-68M were received, which were used by the soldiers
3.
Targets at the shooting range are from the sea, so the main problem is fishing vessels, which continually pass in sight of the coast, thereby causing long breaks in the firing.

Together with the Abkhazian armed forces, the Tsabal and Nagualou training grounds are used at which company and battalion tactical exercises are held. Now equipment is underway in Tsabal tank directors, which will allow tankers to conduct fire directly in Abkhazia, and not go to Russian landfills for this. One of these trips at the end of last year literally caused hysteria in the Georgian press when a train with tanks heading towards the border was removed at the Sochi railway station. The Georgians then moaned about the buildup of the Russian threat, and this was just the tank battalion of the base returning from the battalion tactical exercises.
Here are the tankers at the winter exercises of this year at the range near Maikop

Of armory I can also pamper photos with the SV-98 sniper rifle, which for a year and a half has been in service with a platoon of snipers, and then a sniper company. The main armament of the company is the SVD-S rifle, and the 98th is used only by contract soldiers who went through the school of snipers in Kovrov

Initially, it came to the base with the Lupold aim in the kit, and not with the ever-memorable Hyperon

Continuing the theme of combat training, I will show the class of simulators. Previously, he huddled, like the entire base in tents, now moved to one of the hangars left from the Bambor airfield, and in the future should get a separate case.

19.
On the base there is a newest complex simulator for the T-90А tank, on which the whole crew can simultaneously be engaged, practicing driving and shooting in various conditions. Waiting only for representatives of the service company, which should carry out commissioning. From the experience of traveling in various parts, I deduced that this is one of the poorly organized issues of interaction. The military often has to wait long enough for it to serve and repair one or another sample of training equipment.

You can set different armored vehicles, terrain, season, etc.

Equipment. I could not pass by the Permyachka combat security kit, which I received from the intelligence base last year. Set 2008 year, so even in the old colors. I photographed the accompanying instructions for the kit, you can download it from this link - Permyachka.rar
For some reason, the reconnaissance kit did not come completely, but in a reduced form, which I completely removed

The scouts have no claims to the overalls, tried it in the winter, in the summer, and on the plain, and in the mountains. Especially noted that it is good to wade through it through the bushes and it does not hurt itself, and the equipment is durable, it is not torn. Minus called only one - in the summer is hot. But in the complete set there should be thermal underwear, in the delivery it is simply not there, so there is no fault of the manufacturer either.
In addition to overalls, camouflage suits and glasses, the package included a vest and a backpack.
I photographed the instructions for the vest, you can download this link - Universal transport vest.rar

Now you can go to the social infrastructure.
From August 2008 to November 2010, the entire base lived in a tent city like this
80.
Inside the tent. Filmed in the fall 2009
Since November, 2010, the units slowly began to move into modular barracks built since the summer of 2009.
81.
82.
Inside they look like
The sleeping arrangement is common, divided into two parts
83.
Cases for sportswear and gas masks. The white locker on the left was intended for the role of an armory, but since it does not contain all the necessary weapons, it is empty. All weapons near the barracks in the field weapons storage rooms and containers
84.
By the way, here are sports activities in suits and next to weapon rooms.
85.
Televisions were supplied normally (by the way, in the form of an LCD. In the eye of an 22-24 inch), but I forgot to take a picture of them, so I have to take my word for it. At the barracks in the photo above you can see satellite dishes (also regular ones), catch the basic package of channels, and for a small money you can expand the range for viewing.
By the way, about denezhek. My eyes went to my forehead when I learned how much a conscript serviceman gets at the base. 12 thousand rubles. From December 1, 2010 soldiers began to receive 2300-2800 rubles (before 400-800), and from the new year after raising the money allowance - on 12. Guys quietly baldeyut, buy up a new form, go to the cafe.
Contractors and officers were also paid an increased monetary allowance in accordance with the new calculation, but not in full, due to the general problem of confusion in the Single Clearing Center. No, the same lieutenant on the base received on average as well as a colleague somewhere in central Russia (42-43 thousands), but some of the additional payments have not yet been accrued. Waiting for recalculation.
We continue the tour of the barracks.

Hot water is heated by boilers and here we come to the main problem. Electricity. Those who were in Abkhazia are well aware that the voltage in local power grids is usually no higher than 170-180 volts and minor accidents occur regularly, due to which some minutes or several hours do not have electricity. All these problems are felt to the full and at the base, when it is impossible to heat the water, then in winter the heaters do not work. The winter, of course, on the subtropical coast is always with a plus sign, turning off the light for a while, but the problem is very unpleasant. They decide it now by pulling the line directly from Russia in order not to depend on changeable local tension.
By the way, there are boilers in the barracks of the native second battalion that burned down a year and a half ago, when the workers lived in it, and they were never restored. At the local level, the problem cannot be solved, so who can put pressure on the organization involved in the arrangement of the barracks? ;) Yes, and air conditioner consoles, without which they do not work, could be recovered from the same organization, and then other divisions have it, but with this single barracks, this is an ambush;) The problem is that Slavyanka, which should serve the housing sector, has not yet deployed its activities at the base, so this “interregnum” creates domestic problems.
It is also strange that when designing barracks they do not have all the leisure rooms (yes, not all barracks are the same in layout) and there are no facilities for drying shoes. It is clear that the shoes are completely dry and the heaters in the barracks, but because of this, in the living room there is a specific "poryanochny" smell.
For comparison, the Nagualou polygon.
That's how they lived some time ago
91.
Now the permanent staff has completely moved to the modular barracks, and the battalions arriving at the BTU temporarily set up a tent camp.
92.
General Discussion
93.
The housing for officers at the base in Gudauta has already been built, but has not yet been commissioned.
Two hotels of modular type, but already divided into rooms
94.
At the moment, some officers live in three dormitories, which remained from the previous infrastructure of the airfield, but they are not enough for everyone. Dormitories are not bad, but they still get “sick” with the same problem - interruptions in electricity. Accordingly, it is problematic to bring the family, part lives like this: a wife with children in Russia and a visit to the sea in the summer, and a husband in the service abroad. He comforts that this is not for long, because the service life of an officer at bases outside Russia is set at two years, and then rotated.
But such cottages are provided for the higher command of the base
95.
Bathing and laundry plant is just prepared for operation, recruitment is still ongoing
96.
97.
A very modest girl who just ran away from the camera caught the drying machine, so she wasn’t able to catch her at work.
98.
99.
If contract servicemen and officers eat in a separate small canteen, inherited from the airfield, the canteen for the soldiers has already been erected but not yet put into operation, so they have to eat in a temporary field type canopy under canopies. Rumor has it that in the spring it should still run. Also, large-scale construction of the park of equipment, modernization of treatment facilities and water supply is underway.
Connection Near the barracks there are stationary booths from which you can call home in Russia
100.
If earlier they were not very popular, calls from a mobile phone cost about 4 rubles per minute, then some time ago local mobile operators raised prices to almost 15 rubles / min. So a payphone, which is a few rubles cheaper, also began to be used for communication.
101.
In my time, one of the big problems was the impossibility of contract servicemen and officers to rest culturally. Contract soldiers were simply not allowed anywhere from the territory of the unit, and for officers the nearby cultural paradise was Gagra. Now contract servicemen can freely go beyond the base, and for officers right on the territory of the unit, by order of the Minister of Defense, they have equipped the Brigantine bar, which was opened on December 20 last year
102.
103.
Maritime theme everywhere
104.
Billiards for visitors to the bar is free, for those who just want to play - 100 rubles per hour.
105.
A separate moment - prices in the institution. They were specially made democratic so that anyone could sit without risking to leave with empty pockets. In fact, the bar works with zero profit.
106.
What remains the same is the attitude towards who can drink and who does not. Contracting alcohol is still prohibited.
107.
I remember when we were still marking the field for construction, then there was a sign on it “Cultural and Leisure Center”. Now it is not yet mortgaged, so if you want, for example, to the cinema, then you must again go either to Gagra or to Sukhum.
When asked why construction is so slow, representatives of the contractor company say that there are many problems with the transportation of materials through customs, irregular financing, etc.
Finally, I talked to the priest, who has been at the base since February 2011. The church is not built, the usual USB tent with a cross on the top serves as the temple. Parishioners a little, about 50 people, mostly soldiers. Due to the constant change of the latter (call-dismissal), a greater number of parishioners are unlikely to achieve.
