In July, the Russian Helicopters holding announced the signing of an agreement with UTair on the transfer of two Mi-171А2s to trial operation in order to jointly launch and promote the helicopter to the Russian market.
Today it became known that Rosaviatsiya issued the holding a type certificate for the medium multipurpose helicopter Mi-171А2 in convertible version. Receipt of this document allows the enterprises of the association to start mass production of machines and supply them to commercial customers.
Belykh noted that there are already potential buyers.
In many ways, the Mi-171А2 bypasses Western counterparts, another advantage of it is that it is cheaper than Western ones. Specifications and certificate give us good opportunities.
he said.
It is reported that one of the most important differences between the Mi-171А2 and the Mi-8 / Mi-17 family of helicopters is the new carrier system: “a more efficient X-shaped tail rotor and a new propeller with a fully composite vanes of an improved aerodynamic layout are installed on the helicopter”. Thus, only due to the aerodynamics, the thrust of the rotor Mi-171А2 increased by more than 700 kg, which had a positive effect on the complex of flight performance. In total, more than 171 changes were made to the base model in the design of the Mi-2А80.
