China presented an active protection system for armored vehicles

According to the portal sina.com.cn, China's largest defense company, North Industries Corporation (Norinco), presented its new development - an active protection system for armored vehicles, reports "Warspot".

The system was named GL-5 and was installed on the VT4 tank, also known as MBT3000 during the presentation. The new system was shown at the Armor & Anti-armor exhibition, which Norinco Corporation is holding for foreign customers.

During the demonstration, the GL-5 system intercepted an anti-tank missile flying toward tank. According to the developers, the GL-5 consists of four launchers that provide circular protection, each of which contains 3 shells. The radar system of the system tracks objects within a radius of 100 m. If the object flies towards the tank, the system shoots two shells towards it, which destroy it with an air blast.

The first systems of active protection of tanks were developed in 1950 – 60-ies in the USSR at the Central Design Bureau No. 14. The first system called “Thrush” in the 1983 year was installed on the T-55A tank, but it never went into series. The first serial active defense system was the Israeli Trophy, developed in 2005 year to detect and destroy RPG missiles and shells fired at the tank. Today, active protection systems for armored vehicles have been developed in Israel, Russia, the USA, Turkey, and now in China.

If the Chinese begin to produce, then their army will be completely beautified. They have this good trait.

And generally lately, that not a week is a new military novelty among the Chinese.
And this is good. The United States is less likely to unleash the Last War.

Not at all a fact. The rearmament of the ground forces is not a priority for them. For example, almost half of the tank fleet is the modernized T-54.
They have no opponents on land, so this is most likely a development, primarily for export.
But if they need them, of course, they can quickly rearm. Production facilities allow.

damn it, as if I wanted KAZ to remain only with us and with Israel (and even better only with us).
although there is hope that the Chinese KAZ will work only about ATGMs and RPGs, and not like Afghanistan and BOPs too.

Yes, you my friend alarmist as I look! Are you only going to fight with the Chinese tanks? Lupanem all "Mace" one "Northwind." KAZ is needed only in local wars. In a serious slaughter of KAZ, it’s like a dead poultice.

In any case, protecting the tank is sacred. some say it is expensive (about 10/15 percent of the cost of the tank). apparently disregarding the lives of three crew members, plus the loss of the tank itself, this is apparently normal.

Comrade Aron Zaavi. Yes, I agree with you. Have you watched the Chinese for a long time in the winners and participants of local wars? Personally, I do not. Especially since China won somewhere. I have said many times that China will never be a superpower without military victories. I hint at the style of a monkey on a tree in Syria feel And so this is all Chinese tuftalogy.

It would be better to be a well-fed, healthy and rich monkey than to climb into any J. It would be advantageous to fight in Syria, they would have been there for a long time! But if we (the Russian Federation) are not particularly profitable, then China this Syria in general to the bulb.

Strange, but we were taught that "with a mace" is only the beginning of the war, and not the end. Then another hollow and hollow, including a tank breakthrough of the front directly through the center of their own nuclear strike with access to the uninfected side, until they came to their senses and the reserve was tightened request .Fools probably were, enti Soviet strategists, operatives and tactics.

Apparently, comrades were taught to attack the ETVD in the 80s. It was all sorts of nice tactics such as “one battalion defense area - one special ammunition”, as well as full WBN depots on both sides, up to nuclear mines and WBUs for SAM. belay

Trophy has a slightly different layout: 4 radar along the edges of the tower and 2 launchers
on the sides of the tower.
    Which is better is debatable.

Citizens !!! I can’t stand tankers !!! Their boxes, garages, roads were always lower than air defense .... I filled the road to the Maz after a storm for 4-6 hours on slopes. They drove their turn, turned around in place. They began to make “stretch marks” from oil paint. Damage is zero, but they are washed. We are tormented. They stopped coming to us ...
    What led ????
Blind tank, sensors are not active ... Real defense, works against a point target with a certain (different) speed ..... A shell from Solntsepek with aerosol spraying or other types of weapons with ammunition, including with the forbidden "phosphorus" first hit next to purpose, makes from any tank --- the usual barrel artillery. It just burns out the optics. Then I do not continue ... I’m waiting for the skeptics
