Azerbaijani Armed Forces to be replenished with Turkish 155-mm ACS T-155 Firtina

According to AzeriDefence, MKEK (Turkey) resolved the issue regarding the 155-mm ACS engine of the T-155 Firtina. After the artillery systems with the new engine are tested, self-propelled artillery mounts will begin to flow into the armament of Azerbaijan.

It is known that in 2011 the contract with the Turkish company MKEK concerning the supply of 36 ACS T-155 Firtina to Azerbaijan, the cost of which is 200 million dollars, was blocked by the German company MTU, which refused to re-export MTU 881 Ka-500 engines to Azerbaijan. Recall that these power plants, whose power 1000 hp, installed on the ACS T-155 Firtina Turkish army. Now, AzeriDefence reports, the issue has finally been resolved, and the T-155 artillery systems will only be supplied by MKEK. On self-propelled artillery installations there will be an engine of a “very well-known company”. New artillery systems will also be equipped with the most modern guidance systems.

The Turkish-made 155-mm ACS T-155 Firtina has been in service with the Turkish army since 2004. The crew of the artillery system is five people. Combat deployment time - 30 seconds. The T-155 Firtina ACS can shoot at intervals of 15 seconds at a distance of 40 kilometers.

The T-155 Firtina has an inertial navigation system, a fire control computer, an automatic radar system for the correction and measurement of the speed of a battle projectile developed by ASELSAN. The INS is able to determine the coordinates of the target, the accuracy of which is 17,5 m.

It begins, the news began to pour in ...
Apparently, something happens that is known only to the top of the countries of neighbors.
Either a report on the 102nd brigade, a statement in the parliament of Azeirbajan about claims to the northern territories of Iran, then the British compare the armies of the two countries, now it is.

Or maybe the journalists are heating up

I agree, the news is from a cornucopia.
Do not forget the contract of Azerbaijan with Israel for the supply of weapons, the advance to Russia on the radar, the planned joint US-Georgia maneuvers.
The region is clearly heating up, IMHO, they are looking for free cannon fodder ...

That Azerbaijanis - that Georgians - one field of berry. Slightly that - at the first opportunity we will be put on a bandwagon, or in the back they will strike. Something is ripening. They embrace us not even slowly - but with 7 mile steps. All of these are the machinations of the Americans. Like Iran, they have also imposed tax from all sides. ...... love ..
God forbid Putin is not a fool - he knows what to expect from "friends"! He also began to put the defense on his feet with 7-mile steps. As for the artillery, do we have Kaolitsiya in service or what? The double-barreled gun is a beast - not art!

Who steers there, in fact, everyone understands.
But the desire of the local "elite" to hear in the promises of "well-wishers" only the momentary moments that are profitable to themselves, without thinking about the long-term perspective, is striking, because a bad world is better than a good quarrel.

As far as I remember, unfortunately, the "SV Coalition" was not brought to mind, I don't remember the reasons.

The United States agrees overseas, and Russia is at hand, local kings should think about this before making plans for attacks.

          Let me argue!
The clan, the Aliyevs are certainly flirting with the United States. But most likely they are much smarter than Saakashvili, otherwise they would not have ruled the country for so long !! The goal is to keep power in their hands, and not to senselessly carry out commands from behind a hill !!!

News began to pour in half a month ago .. Azerbaijan is practically becoming an ally of NATO and the purchase of these weapons is nothing more than the unification of weapons with new allies

They have been "begging" for this "gun" for a long time ... The Turkish company Makina ve Kimya Senayesi Tskilat (MKEK), a state-owned company, the main Turkish manufacturer of artillery weapons, faced a problem related to the reluctance of the German company MTU to grant a license to re-export its MT 883 engines Ka-500 to Azerbaijan. MKEK has been negotiating with Azerbaijan since 2008 for the supply of about 40 units of self-propelled howitzers T-155 Firtina. Although manufactured in Turkey under license from the South Korean company Samsung Techwin, it uses components such as the MTU propulsion system. As a result, Germany was able to block the contract, which is estimated at $ 200 million and the signing of which was scheduled for the end of 2011 ....

Unfortunately, one has to admit that the Azerbaijani government made its choice not in the direction of Russia. Arms procurement is a good example of where the small country is looking. Moreover, this self-propelled gun both in caliber and in range can work with the use of small nuclear weapons. Given that Azerbaijan still has a fairly large number of 152 mm shells of Soviet-made shells in the army’s warehouses, the transition to the new tactical caliber (NATO’s main tactical artillery caliber) speaks for itself. Now no one will convince me that Azerbaijan has begun preparations for warfare with the Iranian and Armenian armies and wants to get away from dependence on artillery ammunition and spare parts.

There can be no military clash with Iran. One has only to look at the balance of power. Militarization does not mean that Azerbaijan has completely turned its back on Russia, but rather shows a disposition to return the occupied lands by any means.
There is an opinion that Karabakh serves as a lightning rod and that all the intrigues are being built against Iran, but I remind you that the army of Azerbaijan was not modernized yesterday.
Moreover, the purchase of weapons can be just a tool of pressure. It is worth considering from all sides before making hasty conclusions.

Hello, friends! Calm and only calm! The purchase of 4 S-300,28 MI-35M helicopters and T-90 tanks from Russia does not cause you such concern. Well, and here, where possible, we buy there. I understand that you do not need a strong neighbor, but if you think about it, why not. Azerbaijan has always been with Russia, so decided by God, history and geography!

Dangerous militarization of the region. Unfortunately, Azerbaijan will be a bargaining chip in the geopolitical games of the USA, Turkey, and Saudis. Russia needs a peaceful Azerbaijan with a secular regime, and not a neighbor armed to the teeth. Live peacefully, work, trade, rejoice. Damn you these Turk-guns? All this is not good .....

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 12 / corr. Trend T. Jafarov / A delegation in Tehran led by Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev met with Iranian Defense Minister Ahmed Wahidi, the official website of the Iranian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of military-technical cooperation and regional security.

Iranian Defense Minister Ahmed Wahidi noted the wide potential for developing ties between Iran and Azerbaijan and said that thanks to the will and determination of the leaders of the two countries, the enemies would not be able to spoil relations between the two countries.

“Iran is ready for military equipment and strengthening of the Azerbaijani army. We understand the security of Azerbaijan as the security of Iran. A strong Iran is a strong Azerbaijan, and a strong Azerbaijan is a strong Iran, ”Wahidi said.

At the meeting, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev expressed satisfaction with the visit to Iran and said that some forces are trying to spoil relations between the two states, but they should not provide this opportunity to the enemies.

Azerbaijan is faithful to the policy of good neighborliness, Abiyev said and stressed that Azerbaijan wants peace, stability and security in the region.

Azerbaijan sees the expansion of military cooperation between the two countries as an opportunity to ensure peace and security in the region, he said.

On Monday morning, the visit of Defense Minister Safar Abiyev to Iran began. During the two-day visit, Abiyev will also meet with other Iranian officials. THIS IS ME FOR THOSE COMMENTS WHICH STRONGLY DISCUSS ANTI-IRANIC MOOD OF AZERBAIJAN!
