Russian gas station vs Pax Americana

If a drop of nicotine kills a horse, then a flock of mosquitoes can tear the Ford to pieces. And attempts to crush mosquitoes in mass cannot succeed by definition. This is precisely the fundamental difference between modern fleet from the fleets of the past. The Yankees, who, after the Second World War, captured the flag “Lady of the Seas,” to this day contain a dozen aircraft carrier squadrons, proudly poking everyone with their unique collection of scrap metal.

In Russia, having only two relatively large ships (an old aircraft carrier and a nuclear cruiser), naval life follows a completely different path.

The heavy nuclear missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" in the loading basin of the Sevmash production plant, May 2017. Please note - above the installation site UKKS (universal ship shooting complex) stretched awning. This is especially for us - not to spy, but what's inside there.

So far, everything has been said that the Nakhimov will be equipped with the entire rocket complex weapons and EW facilities, all test versions of equipment and weapons, which will be put on the "killers" of the "Leader" series.

And it is very likely that the Navy will confine itself to two nuclear cruisers, on the basis of common sense - a new generation of rocket weapons has arrived that does not require enormous carrier sizes. There is no need for huge expenses. And to demonstrate the flag, which has always been the ocean fleet, Russia is more than enough available. Needless to say, will have to build a couple of new aircraft carriers.

It makes no sense for Russia to spend money on the analogue of American AUG - there are simply no combat missions for them - no one will go to fight the Falklands. And to combat such monsters, cheap platforms of small warships are effective, capable of working from a distance and under the guise of coastal forces. That has repeatedly demonstrated launches against targets in Syria from the Caspian Sea.

The 1144 project is a series of four cruisers built at the Baltic Shipyard in the USSR from 1973 to 1989. The only surface ships in the Navy with a nuclear power plant. According to the NATO classification, the project is designated as English. Kirov-class battlecruiser, that is, the "battle cruiser", because of its exceptional size and equipment. Today TARKR "Peter the Great" (photo below) is in the ranks.

The 1144 "Admiral Nakhimov" heavy nuclear missile cruiser is located at the Severodvinsk enterprise since 1999. In 2008, the spent nuclear fuel was unloaded from the ship, and in 2013, work began - Sevmash signed a contract with the Defense Ministry to repair and upgrade the cruiser, as a result of which it should become the most powerful ship of the Russian fleet. In 2014, the Admiral Nakhimov was moved to the Sevmash bulk basin. In 2016, the equipment was removed from the ship and new equipment was taken. Modernization of "Admiral Nakhimov" will end in a year.

Probably need to explain why the need for aircraft carriers with their AUG in dozens of pennants has disappeared. For waging local war away from bases and in the presence of ocean expanses, AUGs are applicable. What proved the same Falkland. But it was also proven otherwise - fighting should be conducted with a banana republic. In that war, Argentina proved that the heroism and courage of its pilots was several times reduced by exceptionally low technical equipment. Bombs, without exploding, pierced through the ships of the Royal Navy, and cruise missiles were stuck in the bulkheads. There is a catastrophic lack of Exocset anti-ship missiles and modern aircraft to gain superiority in cubic space. There were a lot of other problems, in fact, characteristic for an order of magnitude weaker adversary. Plus, the Yankees regularly supplied the British with intelligence.

In such a war, yes - AUG applicable. And then only on the condition that there is still a minimum of 1-2 groupings (depending on the remoteness of the theater), which regularly replace each other, if the fighting drags on for months. At the same time, all communications must be tightly controlled - to such an AUG, a continuous flow of cargo, jet fuel, ammunition (autonomy of the AUG 2 of the week in battle).

Now put it all on the air defense and anti-ship missile systems that Russia has today and which it sells for export. Today, the same Argentina would be able to place the regimental complex S-400 on its Malvinas Islands (Falklands), completely covering the sky from any deck aircraft aviation, helicopters and KR. And the cover of the S-400 "Carapace" in the near air defense zone allows you to create an umbrella that can be pierced only by the simultaneous launch of five hundred missiles. That will cause undoubted damage, but will not completely destroy either the air defense, or, especially, the covered objects. But it will completely use up the resources of all AUG pennants, including submarines.

And the same banana opponent is able to strike cheap RCC. The same flock. The most sophisticated "Harpoon 3 unit" cost less than 5 million dollars (and this is for the submarine). And so from the most primitive for 2 million to the most modern for 20 - "air-to-surface". The maximum export price of the "Caliber" 3М-14Е is 6,5 mln. So this is 450 kg of explosive delivered for 2600 km.

So it turns out that today any banana republic that has spent several billion dollars on missiles (not for a year or two) can threaten any AUG with irreparable damage. But the carrier group in dozens of pennants is worth not a couple of billions - 10 times more.

And the worst thing is the threat of losing face. Well, imagine that some Honduras in a salvo in 100 "Calibrov" drowns a dozen frigates and destroyers of cover, at the same time causing serious damage to an atomic aircraft carrier and a dozen more ships. Well, if without a nuclear accident will cost.

It turns out that when such AUGs already exist, like a Yankee, you have to keep your face and portray the mistress of the seas. And if you create from scratch - they are not needed by anyone and for nothing, except to show the flag.

And for Russia. The country has a gas station other tasks. To demonstrate the flag of a pair of aircraft carriers a couple of years through 10, not before. Each atomic cruiser, since they are also a couple of three "Leaders" that are being developed. Plus frigates and submarines, produced today. It is worthy for the ocean squadron. Oh yeah, also a helicopter carrier in the AUG shove.

Beauty!

And for the urgent needs of active defense - hundreds of pennants of mosquito forces, from corvettes to small boats with a pair of sea containers on the 2-4 missiles.

And you can chase these mosquitoes and peel them with an electron microscope until blue.

the tent is pulled. This is especially for us - to peep at her, and what’s inside him.[i] [/ i]
Actually, this is protection against precipitation ... There can be no secret in empty hatches.
And if the article is too much pathos. I do not want to belittle our fleet at all, honor and glory to Him, but all this is not from a good life, large ships are also necessary, but for now we are doing what we can. Not for nothing, the Eagles are considered the most powerful in the world to this day, and this is not only our opinion. The turn will reach them. And yet, and if there was no opportunity to deploy our base in Syria, how to effectively solve combat missions? It is good that this is only the opinion of the author, fortunately the MO has a different understanding.

By no means both the Shaigu and the GDP have repeatedly said in the "zombie box" that we, without the WB, will need anyone, where should we get them ...

But in my opinion, we simply cannot afford to build modern large ships - and the article is trying to suggest that it is so necessary that the age of large ships is gone. As far as I remember, before World War I, the judgment was also widespread that the actions of a mosquito fleet near the coast could undermine naval dominance. World War I convincingly proved the complete failure of such a judgment.

“Long hand” is a beautiful speech revolution. Author -> author -> the author specifically proposes to drown Aviki from the Caspian, they say there is a good Syrian experience. Everything is sewn and covered, as always. That's just a little problem --- " Gauges "do not know how to hit ships for thousands of km. For stationary coastal targets they reach from the Caspian Sea, and a moving ship in the elements devoid of any reference points cannot.

Yes, it is precisely reliable external target designation that is needed - but we did not have it spawn. I remember the only close example - it seems like the Ka-50 was supposed to interact with unmanned reconnaissance ... Only Putin acquired the Ka-50.

To the author, several questions arose ...
So it turns out that today any banana republic that has spent several billion dollars on rockets (not in a year or two) is capable of threatening any AUG with irreparable damage.

Question one: where does a banana country find several billion dollars for all this, if, often, the entire total budget of such countries is just a few billion dollars ...
    The second:
Each of them has an atomic cruiser, since there are a couple of Leaders that are being developed.

We have 4 fleets and one Mediterranean squadron ... two aircraft carriers and a couple of Leaders? Moreover, the longest border in the world and all this is washed by oceans and seas ... the author seriously believes that a mosquito fleet is able to solve all problems in the vast world the ocean?
Now, let’s take the author’s thesis about the need for two aircraft carriers for the Russian Federation ... but what about the moment of rotation or repair ... than we will replace the ships leaving for repair or modernization?

In order to talk about the construction of aircraft carriers, you first need to build a NEW strike ship escort for these aircraft carriers ... and these are cruisers (or destroyers Leader), destroyers, frigates, MAPL and support vessels. At this point in time, talking about building an aircraft carrier is ridiculous and inappropriate.

Well so why did you start the topic for aircraft carriers? You reproached the author for the lack of scale on the carrier topic. And the oceans can be plowed on smaller ships and aircraft carriers. Any Russian ship of the first rank is a ship of the ocean zone. To be an ocean power, it is not necessary to have an AUG. Tour Kheerdahl and Fedor Konyukhov conquered the vast expanses on smaller boats.

The article will simply amuse you with your amateurism. He writes a scribe who is absolutely not versed in military matters. He does not understand the difference when firing Caliber at sea and coastal targets. How simple it is. Crammed the "Caliber" into the boat and go, swamp AUG. Unfortunately, while firing at a sea target, our cruise missiles for 2500 km do not fly yet. Yes, even if they were flying, our fleet has not yet solved the problem of target designation over long ranges. And the enemies will not “chase these mosquitoes and beat them with an electron microscope until they turn blue”, since this mosquito fleet simply cannot launch a missile strike on the AUG, and if it moves away from the coast, where it is covered with protective equipment, it will be immediately destroyed. Unlike us, American AUGs with target designation are much better.

Stupid article !!! Missiles are not a panacea, and shooting at stationary objects is different from shooting at a moving target. And in general, the USSR twice stepped on this rake with a mosquito fleet for the first time in 30 years, and the second one with a corncracker, he also relied on rockets, and with wild cries, why do we need the fleet and why did the aircraft cut the ships of the ocean zone under construction and covered the air bureau. About air defense systems and anti-ship missiles! -Author air defense is not able to cover the whole country and is located locally just like anti-ship missile systems simply cannot physically cover the long coastline of Russia. And the tasks of the anti-aircraft defense are precisely to create local superiority in a particular sector TVD. Well, the ships of the ocean zone are needed not only to demonstrate the flag (even a barge studded with all kinds of barrels and missiles is suitable for demonstration), and first of all, to counter the ships of the ocean zone of a potential enemy !!!

Bullshit, not an article. The coastal fleet and the "large" fleet are two different things. We need to start with the fact that Russia cannot afford to maintain an ocean fleet, while it cannot. Therefore, it makes a very serrated coastal because We’re not going to attack anyone. Although we are slowly creating it., Modernizing what we have and planning to build a new one. 20 years of liberalization do not pass without a trace and we have a very long way to go to fix the fact that some Chubais have been cracked up .. Entrusting this difficult work to Chubais, or to Serdyukov as We have one puck, it’s not enough for everything. He also seems to be recovering medicine and education.
P.S. That's the whole article and letters are smaller.

And the cover of the S-400 "Carapace" in the near air defense zone allows you to create an umbrella that can be pierced only by the simultaneous launch of five hundred rockets.
The author is a complete amateur.
The S-400 division is capable of simultaneously shooting down 36 targets. The number of Pantsir-C1 SAM systems in a battery is up to 6 vehicles (12 missiles each with a probability of hitting a target with one missile - 0,7). What 500 downed enemy rockets are we talking about?

It will also be useful to recall the S-400 affected area (especially on the MV and PMV) and the flight profiles of the Kyrgyz Republic and the RCC. Because the radio horizon can only be bypassed with an expensive combination of airborne warning systems (detection, tracking, data on air defense systems for correcting the trajectory of missiles) and RCTU + ARLGSN on missiles (adjusted flight with target acquisition in the final section). Otherwise, 30-40 km (at extremely low altitudes) remain from the entire area of the air defense system.

To the author, several questions arose ...

drinks 5 points ... Dear Nexus, I think you would have written a better article than this "expert"!
Some kind of tweet baby talk!
Why are you asking questions when VO re-published the article, there are no more experts left!
And the funny thing is that the specific doctrine of the development of the fleet approved by the commander in chief is available on the Internet :))

I would not consider a “caliber” a missile capable of “one-two” overcoming air defense warrants, well, it can only when it is overloaded ..
“Volcano-phalanx”, “goalkeeper”, as well as missile systems, have not been canceled. They have normal efficiency, in any case from "harpoons" ..

I understand everything, but I don’t understand what does the naval grouping, even aircraft carriers, and ground targets at a distance of 2600 km? Firstly, no one will sell you a rocket with such a range, and secondly, the ship is a moving target, a rocket must still be pointed at it.

two or three aircraft carriers must constantly graze closely off the coast of America. and constantly keep it on the fly. but what they should be for a mortal blow, the military should already know this.

It’s interesting how “Caliber” in the RCC variant can be reached from the Caspian Sea to the mattress box from the runway, for example, in the Persian Gulf.

Why build floating airfields, if it is possible to cover the entire world space, to build military bases in friendly countries, because on land there are always more planes than an aircraft carrier, the Americans are going to build a base in Ukraine, and we in Cuba, in Vietnam, in India, in Philippines, the Kuril Islands, Venezuela, and in such conditions, we do not need aircraft carriers in the bud.

Yeah ... the Japanese also thought so. And then to the well-equipped coastal airbases in the Philippines, the basement was TF.38 / 58 and was beaten with three to four times local superiority. The Japanese began to transfer reserves - they were beaten before landing.
But maybe it’s only ancient legends deep? Consider the present. The Murmansk region is covered by 4-5 airfields. Kamchatka - two or three. Each has a regiment. And 4-6 ABs are deployed to this "bush", 60-70 planes each (for forces based on the SSBNs they will not spare forces).
So to counter the carrier threat, be prepared to equip each of the important objects with an aerodrome network with a capacity exceeding 4-5 AUG. At each from objects. You can’t count on maneuvering from other aerodromes of the okrug - for the flight time from distant aerodromes may be longer than the time to reach the line of launch of the drummers from AB.

I really like the models, recently I pinned the new Tu 160 (with super engines and a child prodigy), Su-57 !, and of course, the cruiser-destroyer (certainly, the atomic one) "Leader". Shame on you? Saw such a BABLO, and even the Su-57 squadron is in doubt! You! I understand what I’m saying, you can’t lose the cattle-government with your gardeners!

Russian gas station vs Pax Americana

Well, first of all, America itself is a gas station. Secondly, by the prevalence of bravura articles (we’ll catch up and overtake), we can conclude that elections are approaching lol
