    It seemed to me that the F-5 was already withdrawn from service. Half a century of operation - a good time

        ... or in the squadron of the Aggressors

        It’s time for the “mattresses” in their advertised F-35s to begin to conduct training aerial battles with the corn squadron (An-2), then they would have felt like real heroes and great air aces! good

          laughing in vain. When ours, after Vietnam, experienced the captured F-5, it turned out that in close air combat, he replayed all our planes: MiG-19, MiG-21 and MiG-23. Only the latter could conditionally bring him down by using a medium-range missile. So it is not surprising that this aircraft is still used for training.

            Ethiopia was also armed with F-5s when it changed its vector to a pro-Soviet one. Soviet experts immediately began to test Ethiopian “gifts” and were shocked by the overwhelming superiority of the F-5 over the MiG-21 and some superiority even over the MiG-23 of the late 70's release.

              The Americans were also scared of the MiG-21. And also found moments on which he replayed the F-5. This is normal: any technique is created on the basis of capabilities, and those that are more accessible and useful prevail in the sample. Something is better with them, and something with us.
              By the way, in Soviet times, I heard about the MiG-23 from one pilot, the reviews are not the best, they say the 21 is better. But thanks to the site, in old age, I learned that the later samples were very worthy. And in fact, why not compare us with the I-16 (type-29) and Me-109s (better b) and begin to admire our aircraft. Only more important is the pilot. I hope this American is written off.

            These are librarian myths laughing
            F5 won the MiG-21 only in some flight modes!
            "After a rigorous analysis of the materials, the findings of the F-5E tests were as follows:
            - the MiG-21 BIS fighter has the best acceleration characteristics, the rate of climb at speeds over 500km / h - due to
            greater thrust-to-weight ratio and angular speeds of turns at speeds over 800 km / h;
            - at speeds of 750-800 km / h none of the aircraft’s advantages
            has - the fight went on equal terms, but the melee did not work because of large
            turning radii;
            - at speeds lower than 750 km / h F-5E has the best
            characteristics of maneuverability, and this advantage increases with increasing altitude and decreasing flight speed;
            - F-5E has a wider area of maneuvering, where
            it is possible to perform steady turns with a radius of smaller 1800 meters;
            - On the F-5E a better view from the cockpit and a more comfortable cabin layout;
            “The F-5E has more ammunition, but a lower total rate of fire for guns, which allows you to have a longer firing time from them."

    But when they once wanted to buy our K-36.
    Yes, and to hell with them. Do not mind their pilots, also in the drum.
