Under the water in the T-72: first-person tank crews showed how to dive

12
In the video you can see how the tank T-72B3 overcomes about 100 meters under water at a depth of 4 m. The driver has to put a lot of effort, moving in conditions of almost zero visibility. At the same time, he cannot switch gears, stop or make sharp turns, since the combat vehicle may simply stall at the bottom under the water column.

“But the brigade, despite the murmur of tankers over the deterioration of vehicles, was set a new task: to proceed to the White Sea under its own power. To reduce the route, it was decided to refuse to cross the bridge over the Svir River and proceed towards Lake Onega. For this, it was necessary to overcome Svir river at the bottom. The depth of the river at the crossing point is 6-7 meters. Such a tanker did not even dream about in a dream.
Prepared for the crossing carefully. They removed the periscopes on the tower. Instead, they installed pipes of large diameter and secured them. They tear up all the cracks with rags with a grease. We instructed the crews. Crossed at low speed, observing the distance between the machines. Maintained appropriate engine speed as it could stall at low speeds. Only two crew members were in the car, and the rest were transported by boat. When crossing through the closed cracks, water jets made their way, from which they had to evade.
Water gradually arrived in the tanks. Finally, our tank emerged from the water and headed in a convoy to a steep bank, where a road was prepared in advance along the cliff for climbing the high bank. We got up, got out of the cars and looked at the crossing. Tanks, like heroes, slowly plunged into the water. There was a chain of slowly moving pipes sticking out of the water along the river. Near the steep shore, tanks emerged from the water, catching a light wave, and in an organized column roared up to the opposite shore. An unforgettable sight! "

But at the expense of the story - there really is stress. Most likely the bottom was felt (on silt), to get stuck in an elementary way.

Not only, there may be obstacles at the bottom, in the form of pits, boulders and firewoods

If without jokes, depressurization of the tank, engine shutdown, but there they would run on the shore. Up to seven meters deep, for inexperienced ass without scuba gear. Shorter crew standing guys.

Armor is strong, and our tanks are fast,
And our people are full of courage:
In the ranks are Soviet tankmen -
      Their great Motherland sons.
And if an enemy is getting to us,
He will be beat everywhere and everywhere!
      Then press the drivers starters
And in the forests, in the hills and in the WATER ...

For such an immersion, you must first prepare the tank, cover the holes.
      I read somewhere.

Yes, although starting with the T-64 this is done purely for safety, since the sealing system on these tanks is much more advanced ...

Not only because of this, but also because the tank in the water becomes “lighter” and there were cases when an attempt to turn it led to the tank turning at a larger angle and starting to move not across, but along the river. everything needs to be done only at the command of the head of the crossing and constantly monitor the testimony of GPK-59

I started the video - and just then a neighbor was driving through the windows in the courtyard. With gaspages, with a half-torn muffler ... In general, a powerful growl fell well on this video. Directly Augmented Reality)))
