Light armored 4x4. Part of 3

The Turkish company Nurol Makina developed the Ejder Yalcin patrol vehicle, which was purchased in small quantities by the Turkish military and police.

At IDEF 2015, FNSS (a joint venture between Nurol Holding and BAE Systems) presented the prototype PARS 4x4, a kind of rear-engined machine. The gross weight of the floating armored vehicle is 10 tons, which can be increased to 12 tons if buoyancy is not required. Movement on the water is provided by two water cannons, the height of the freeboard is 350 mm, which will allow the machine to enter the water without preparation. FNSS claims that rear engine positioning improves the performance of a car on water compared to competitive platforms. Information on the engine is not presented, but it is stated about the power density 25-30 hp / t, thus, the output power must be of the order of 250-300 hp PARS 4x4 is equipped with an independent suspension with double wishbones and hydropneumatic springs. Tire pressure control system and large wheels reduce the ground pressure and ensure maximum throughput. The car can accommodate five soldiers: the driver with the commander in front, and the three rear seats are arranged in a staggered manner in order to optimize situational awareness, while the machine has a large windshield. Behind the crew seats can be installed mast with a sensor set of specific intelligence or installations of anti-tank missiles, the total capacity of the machine is 3 tons. In June, the FNSS 2016 received a draft contract for the STA family (Sikh Tasiyici Arac, anti-tank machine) from the Undersecretariat of the Defense Industry, which will also include tracked and wheeled platforms, the latter is based on the PARS 4X4. The machine definitely meets the Turkish requirements, but the final configuration has not yet been approved. The design, development and qualification tests of the prototype will be completed in 2018 year, and deliveries are scheduled for the next two years.

The company FNSS won a contract on anti-tank installation for the Turkish army. The wheel segment of the contract is based on the PARS 4x4 armored car, shown in the 2015 year

Mobile ATRA RAM MKZ mass 6,5 tons designed and manufactured by the Israeli company IAI Ramta

When the Turkish military wanted to get into service new MRAP vehicles, the contract was issued to a naval company that offered its armored vehicle Kirpi 4x4, based on an Israeli project. At that time, the countries worked closely in the defense sector and therefore nothing prevented the Naval Forces company from contacting Hatehof (now Carmor), which provided its Navigator platform. With a total mass of 16 tonnes, the Kirpi armored vehicle is distinguished by a carrying body mounted on the chassis of a Navy truck with a Cummins engine power 375 hp. There is no official data on the protection of this car, although it is clear that this is a full third level. The vehicle can accommodate 10-15 soldiers, including its crew. In addition to the Turkish contract 2009 of the year for the army and gendarmerie, which was suspended for some time due to financial problems in the company, Kirpi armored car, however, turned out to be quite a successful export platform after contracts with Pakistan and Tunisia. The last country received a batch of 40 machines and another 60 will be shipped later. Turkmenistan also became a buyer of Turkish-made MRAP 4x4. The Navy portfolio has another 4x4 configuration platform. The Vuran armored vehicle, shown at IDEF 2015, is mainly focused on semi-military formations.

It is worth noting another Turkish company that produces armored vehicles 4x4. Katmerciler offers two of its platforms, Khan and Hizir, the latter is designed for the military. The Hizir armored vehicle with a total mass of 16 tons, presented at the end of 2016, can accommodate up to 9 people. The machine has a bearing body and the bottom of the V-shaped, while the company does not provide details on the levels of protection. The crew with the troops sit through two side and one rear doors. The machine, presented at the exhibition in Istanbul last November, was equipped with the Aselsan SARP remotely controlled weapon module (DUMW), loopholes equipped at the doors and along the sides of the hull.

Carter, formerly known as Hatehof, offers Xtream armored vehicles, which can accommodate up to seven people in an armored capsule with a fourth level of protection, while mine protection corresponds to the third level of STANAG 4569

The Kirpi armored vehicle developed by the Navy belongs to the MRAP category and is in service with the Turkish army; the 6x6 wheel formula was introduced in the 2015 year

The Ramta Division of the Israeli Aerospace Industry is developing land and sea systems and therefore it is not surprising that its portfolio includes a light armored car under the designation Ram Mk 3. It has a rather unconventional layout, since its power unit, consisting of a six-cylinder Deutz air-cooled turbodiesel with an 185 hp power unit, mounted on a four-speed automatic transmission, is located at the back. According to IAI Ramta, a turbocharged and intercooled engine is offered as an option for customers who want more than 28 horsepower / tonne specific power. The Ram Mk 3 armored car is distinguished by a crew carrying capsule made of armored steel. The share of finished commercial components is in excess of 90%, which allows you to keep an acceptable cost and simplifies maintenance, and the customer is not tied to the supply of spare parts from the manufacturer. The platform's vitality is at a high level; all important components of the chassis and power unit are protected by armor steel sheets. Baseline protection corresponds to STANAG Level 2, but can be upgraded to Level 3, mine protection corresponds to Level 2a / b. IAI Ramta stated that the current 6,5 tonnage of combat tonnage, of which 1,2 tonnes is payload, is not associated with design constraints, but with a desire to expand opportunities for future upgrades. IAI Ramta also offers a so-called “statistical defense” against RPGs in the form of grid and network screens. The company constantly monitors the development of security solutions in order to integrate the latest systems in a timely manner.

However, if you are looking for digital or “glamorous” solutions, do not choose the Ram Mk 3. The company's philosophy is simplicity, all automotive systems are analog, not digital, reliability and ease of maintenance are at the forefront. The same applies to electrical subsystems, because the machine does not implement a complex and centralized architecture. IAI Ramta prefers to develop solutions chosen by the customer based on the traditional layout of the wires in the car. In addition to the standard configuration of the personnel transporter, which accommodates up to 8 soldiers, the Ram Mk 3 armored car was developed, at least in 20, in various variants and sub-versions, including reconnaissance, equipped with a retractable mast with a sensor set of specific intelligence; operational control with fewer seats in order to free up space for computers, displays and additional communications equipment; anti-tank retractable launcher with four short-range missiles Nimrod. All options have the same appearance so that the enemy could not distinguish the car with special equipment from the rest. The exception was the latest development - an ambulance car, which has a slightly raised roof, which allowed to increase the internal volume for the placement of medical staff and equipment; This option can carry up to 4 stretcher, while the wounded are loaded through the side doors, recall that the power unit of this machine is located at the back. Armored car Ram Mk 3 was delivered to numerous customers, both military and paramilitary structures. The latter are attracted by the relatively small size of the car, which does not frighten the civilian population in contrast to the giant MRAP category cars. Almost 500 machines were sold, while the number of buyers has increased significantly in the last few years. Africa remains one of the main markets, as evidenced by the contract announced by IAI in February 2015. Two African customers bought the Ram Mk 100 additional armored vehicles for their military 3.

The Israeli company Carmor, formerly known as Hatehof, has a full range of 4x4 armored vehicles in its portfolio. Let's start with heavier platforms. The Navigator armored vehicle with an own weight of 15 tons and a carrying capacity of 3 tons holds up to 13 soldiers and has ballistic protection corresponding to the 4 Level and mine protection corresponding to the 3 Level / b. The machine is equipped with a Cummins diesel engine with an 345 horsepower, its carrying body allows for modernization in the future; the company claims that it is quite possible to increase the total mass to 23 tons. Next comes the Xtream armored vehicle with a total weight of 16,5 tons, a load capacity of 4,7 tons and seats for 4-7 people, the levels of protection correspond to the levels of protection of the Navigator machine. Armored car with engine power 325 HP Cummins has a smaller size, but better mobility, especially with regard to the front and rear corners of the overhang (the angles of entry and exit from an obstacle). The champion in these corners (85 ° and 90 °, respectively) is a Hurricane armored car due to the very small front and rear overhangs; with its own mass of 7,5 tons and payload of 2,1 tons, this 4x4 armored vehicle provides seven soldiers on board with 3 Level ballistic protection and 2 Level anti-mine / b. The machine is equipped with an 245 horsepower engine. Cummins.

Carmor’s recent successes and achievements (at least those announced by it) relate to the Wolf platform, which has a ground mass of 7,1 tons and a payload capacity of 1,745 tons. The machine has an 300 horsepower engine, it holds up to 11 soldiers and provides them with the 3 level ballistic protection and 1 anti-mine level. Armored car Wolf demonstrates on its example the continuous development of vehicles produced by Carmor. Although a direct comparison is difficult, because some characteristics have changed, but nevertheless, the newest version, which recently won contracts for the supply of police units in Brazil and Macedonia, has a load capacity of almost 25% of its own weight, whereas in previous models this figure was about 18 % Carmor armored vehicles are designed for both military and paramilitary structures. This is confirmed by the Brazilian contract, according to which 4 Wolf armored vehicles were bought for the São Paulo police, which were delivered and have already taken part in quelling the unrest in this largest city in Brazil.

An armored buggy on steroids, CombatGuard from IMI Systems, was shown at Eurosatory 2014, but since then no information has appeared on it

With a total mass of 15 tons, the RG21 armored vehicle holds up to 12 soldiers and has very good protection against mines and IEDs

IMI Systems (formerly Israel Military Industries) offers its Wildcat platform, which is an IMI-designed crew capsule mounted on a Tatra 4x4 chassis with split axles that provide almost the same mobility as a fully independent suspension. Cummins engine rated at 18.5 hp is installed on the machine with a gross weight of 11,4 tons and a dead weight of 325 tons. The payload capacity of 7,1 tons can be used to significantly increase the level of protection: Kit A guarantees ballistic protection corresponding to the third level, Kit B provides Level 4, while Kit C manages 14,5 mm armor-piercing bullets and RPGs. As for mines, the Wildcat's V-shaped bottom in combination with other solutions provides Mine 3a / 2b mine protection. A crew of three gets into the car through the ramp on the port side, and 9 paratroopers land through the stern ramp. The machine, apparently, is still at the prototype stage, since the starting customer has not yet appeared. Another interesting IMI concept is implemented in the CombatGuard platform, presented at Eurosatory 2014. A buggy with a total weight of 8 tons was developed in conjunction with the Ido off-road equipment center. A 300-horsepower engine is installed on the car, its large 54-inch wheels make it possible to develop speeds of up to 150 km / h on the highway and up to 120 km / h on rough terrain. The wheels protrude beyond the dimensions of the casing, so the overhang angles reach 90 °. The machine is equipped with an armored cabin accommodating two crew members and 4-6 paratroopers, protection levels are not reported. Probably a machine designed for the special forces of Israel, but no News about a possible contract and operational deployment did not appear.

The Streit Group, which celebrated its 25 anniversary, is increasingly plunging into the world of military vehicles. Her portfolio is constantly updated, since at each exhibition we see new cars. With regard to the protection of machines, the group does not adhere exclusively to the STANAG 4569 standard, it also works with other standards, such as the European CEN 1063 and CEN 1522, since not all customers adhere to NATO standards. Examples include the latest development of the company Streit - Cobra and Couaar armored cars. The lightweight Cobra patrol car has a body weight of 4760 kg and a load capacity of 1000 kg, based on the Toyota chassis with a diesel engine, the HP 232 horsepower. Standard protection is CEN B6 (soft core 7,62-mm bullet), but can be upgraded to B7, while anti-explosion protection can be upgraded from standard 2xDM51 to 1xDM31. The machine is available in three- and five-door configurations and can accept 8-9 soldiers. The same levels of protection are offered by Spartan armored car with its own weight of 7,3 tons, payload of 1,5 tons and Ford V8 engine with 300 hp power. The car houses a crew of two people plus eight paratroopers with the possibility of changing the seating scheme. A DUMV can be installed on the machine, but being a modular design, it can be used for special tasks, for example, as a commander or a sanitary option.

With a total mass of 11 tons, the Scorpion offers a third level of protection, although ballistic protection with additional kits can be upgraded to level four.

The above machines can be operated by military and paramilitary units. The same applies to the Gladiator armored car based on the Renault 4x4 truck chassis with an HP 276 engine that has an own weight of 11 tons and a load capacity of 2 tons. In a machine case with a protection that corresponds to STANAG 4569 2 level, can accommodate up to 12 people. However, she may receive additional reservations, increasing the level of protection to the third. The Scorpion 4x4 armored car is the second Streit car with a bearing housing. On a car with independent suspension, its own weight of 11 tons and carrying capacity of tons of 2 diesel engine installed Cummins power 300 hp The basic anti-bullet protection corresponds to the level of STANAG 4569 3 Level and anti-mine protection to the Level 3 level / b, an optional supplementary booking kit raises the level of protection to four. The car can accommodate a crew of two people and eight people landing.

Assembling Streit Shrek armored vehicles on Kraz-5233BE chassis

Taking the Kraz-5233BE chassis base, Streit developed the Shreck armored vehicle of the MRAP category, which can accommodate up to 12 soldiers with the same levels of basic and optional protection as the previous model. The machine is equipped with an 330 horsepower engine. it has its own mass of 15 tons and payload of 3 tons. A variant has been developed for the neutralization of explosive objects with a hydraulic arm-manipulator. In the company's portfolio there is another MRAP machine, which has received the designation Tornado. It provides the basic ballistic protection of the 2 Level and the anti-mine 3 Level / b, while the level of ballistic protection can be increased to a fourth with the reservation kit. In a car with an 300 horsepower engine, an own weight of 13 tons and a payload capacity of 2 tons can accommodate up to 10 soldiers. And, finally, the Typhoon armored vehicle of the MRAP category: a carrying body, an independent suspension and a Cummins diesel engine with a power of 400 hp. It has the same own weight, load capacity, levels of basic and optional protection, like the armored Tornado.

even all what ugly armored cars look like,
mine safety is of course quite substantial, but is it worth doing such cumbersome overall goals, for me this profit is highly doubtful

The phrase from the text "With a total mass of 15 tons, the RG21 armored vehicle can accommodate up to 12 soldiers and has very good protection against mines and IEDs." What is this for? There is nothing in the text about RG21 at all. In part 4, there is such a phrase to the attached photograph - a lapus?
