NATO believes in the North Atlantic integration of Ukraine
According to the ministry, at the meeting, Dukaru noted the in-depth reforms of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, "which are aimed at the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine," reports RIA News
The sides paid considerable attention to the issues of deepening cooperation in the military-technical and cyber-security field between Ukraine and NATO member countries. NATO Deputy Secretary General stressed the importance of cooperation in science and in cyber security issues.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in December 2014 of the year amended two laws, refusing the non-aligned status of the state. Rada also adopted a document proposing amendments to the Law "On the Fundamentals of Domestic and Foreign Policy" and stipulating that "the main principles of foreign policy are deepening cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in order to acquire membership in this organization." Earlier, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that in order to join the alliance, Ukraine would need to achieve a number of criteria, the implementation of which will take a considerable amount of time. Experts believe that Kiev will not be able to qualify for membership in NATO in the next 20 years.
