Belgium plans to buy French armored vehicles Jaguar and Griffon

According to the blog information bmpd, Internet portal defensebelgium.wordpress.com reported that on June 22 the government of Belgium approved the purchase of new for the benefit of the Belgian armed forces 60 french armored vehicles EBRC Jaguar and 417 armored VBMR Griffon with 6x6 wheel formula, created in the framework of the French program Scorpion.

Financing of deliveries is assumed in the amount of 1,1 billion euros. Shipment of equipment is expected in 2025-2030 years.
Jaguar armored vehicles with 40-mm cannon and anti-tank systems are designed to replace the Pandur I wheeled armored personnel carriers (59 vehicles in the Belgian Armed Forces), which mainly play a reconnaissance role. Griffon must replace the Piranha IIIC BTR (268 units) and Dingo 2 armored vehicles (218 units).

In the case of a deal, Belgium will become the first foreign customer for Jaguar and Griffon cars.
During the 2018-2031 period, the French army plans to purchase the 1668 Griffon armored vehicles (to replace the VAB armored vehicle fleet) and the Jaguar 248 armored vehicles (to replace the AMX-10RC and ERC-90S armored vehicles).
