Democracy myth
In reality, this is just a hoax, an illusion. Since the emergence of "democracy" in ancient Greece and ancient Rome, this system has been slave-owning. A certain percentage of the rich and the "middle class" of that time ruled the poor and a huge mass of slaves, on the use of which the economy of the states was based. Speaking about the "democratic" Athens, the Roman Republic is forgotten to mention the thousands, hundreds of thousands of slaves, on whose most severe exploitation these countries were prosperous. The modern West conceptually focused on Rome and the "democratic" policies of Greece, and as a result, a planetary slaveholding system was built in the world. In the Soviet Union and later in Russia, people were deceived by images of Italian, French, American and other Western films, where they showed a well-fed, prosperous life of the “middle class” - excessively bloated to create an abundant showcase of “capitalism” (in recent decades this class has been destroyed, especially obviously it has become noticeable in recent years, it became unnecessary). But Soviet, Russian people were very rarely shown the inside of the life of Western countries and countries where the rules of "liberal democracy" were millions of homeless people, beggars, slaves (prostitutes), farm laborers, slums, color ghettos. They did not talk about the redistribution of the planet’s resources in favor of the population of the “golden billion” countries. The fact that in reality all power in “democratic countries” belongs to plutocrats, and the management system can be safely called plutocracy (ancient Greek πλοῦτος is wealth, κρκτος is government), where all the real power belongs to several dozen clans families.
Power of capital
“Democracy” is an illusion, a snag of the real power of ordinary people. It is always the power of the rich, so it was in the policies of Ancient Greece (only Sparta could be called relatively democratic, money and wealth were despised there, in fact it was “military democracy”), in the Roman Republic, in all “democratic” countries of Europe from their appearance to of our days.
Examples of this fact can be found in the mass - here is the “independent” US judicial system with electoral funds, where they elect those judges whose campaign has invested more money, and the election campaigns of candidates for governors and presidents. All senior officials are appointees of certain financial-industrial groups. Moreover, there is a clear upward trend in electoral spending, which is turning into entire holiday campaigns, with a bunch of various events. About the "power of the people" in this scenario is silly to say.
There is no need to talk about the "independence of the press" in the western "democracies". To do this, just look at how covered the recent war in Libya and the events taking place in Syria. Only some publicists, journalists try to give a more or less objective picture, the majority of the most popular and powerful media do not shun the most blatant disinformation, deceiving millions of people. For example, the events in the Syrian Homs were filed and served as unreasonable shelling of a peaceful city from the “bloody regime” of Assad. Although there had been a battle for several weeks with an entire "army" of several thousand well-armed militants (mercenaries from Libya, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan, Afghanistan and other countries). They were able to gain a foothold in the city during the arrival of observers from the League of Arab States, when official Damascus withdrew troops from the city. The authorities had to use armored vehicles and artillery in order to crush the gangster enclave. Although it was still not possible to achieve complete victory, the fighting continues to the present, the militants have to be beaten out of the city’s underground communications.
An excellent example of how “independent” media becomes an organic part of a corrupt system built by their owner is the example of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Former Prime Minister of Italy is one of the richest people in the country and even the planet, the head of a whole “business empire”, of which a large media network is part. At the same time, Berlusconi was in the center of constant corruption scandals, was under investigation and was accused of corruption even before he became the head of the executive branch of Italy. He was repeatedly accused of violations of the law, fraud, bribery, but this did not prevent Berlusconi from visiting the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy (1994-1995, 2001-2006, 2008-2011) three times.
It should be noted that the cries of the current liberal “swamp district revolutionaries” about the need to introduce “independent” presidential elections, parties, deputies of all levels, governors, mayors, police department heads, etc., will lead to a sharp deterioration in the situation in Russia. With the commercialization of relations that has occurred since the beginning of the 1990s, all these posts will be immediately occupied by appointees of the oligarchy and various shadow rich clans, including alcohol, tobacco, drug mafias, and ethnic groups. We will get a pure plutocracy.
The only alternative to the current “vertical of power” that more or less copes with maintaining order in Russia may not be “Western-style democracy”, but the development of the Soviet model, a kind of neo-Soviets, new zemstvos (if you take the experience of the Russian Empire). But this is a very long process, a very large degradation of human capital has occurred over the past decades. The current inhabitants are more depraved and sillier than even the citizens of the late Soviet Union, not to mention the earlier decades, when people received fundamental education and upbringing.
The prison system "citadels of democracy"
Washington likes to teach other countries in the absence of freedom, democracy. At the same time, in the most “free and democratic” country of the planet the period is shaken by the largest number of prisoners in the world. So, at the beginning of 2009, 2,3 contained a million people in US prisons - more than a quarter of all prisoners in the world (!). Even China, in fact, with the one and a half billion, held 1,5 million in prisons.
Many people, knowing about American prisons only from films, think that its kind of “sanatorium”, where prisoners can improve their health, swinging in gyms, playing basketball, American football, table tennis and at the same time do not work. One of the worst problems in US prisons is rape, so only in 2008, about 200 thou. Inmates were subjected to some form of sexual violence. The highest rates of rape are recorded in juvenile prisons.
In the past decade, the employment situation of American prisoners has changed dramatically. The United States prison system has been commercialized. And now almost all US government prisons are leased to companies and individuals. Moreover, the commercialization and privatization of US prisons began long ago, back in the 1980s, under the presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, and reached its greatest prosperity under Democrat Bille Clinton (President in 1993-2001). The Clinton program to reduce the federal budget of the country and state employees led to the fact that the state justice departments began to enter into agreements for the detention of persons with private prison companies. Since the state budget funds that were allocated to such companies were small, and the cost of maintenance is very significant, the question arose of where to get the money. The federal government negotiated with the "private traders", and quickly found a way out - they began to exploit the prisoners in full. Prisoners' labor quickly became profitable, and from the middle of 1990's, the prison industry experienced rapid growth. Naturally, Wall Street businessmen became its investors and owners. On the 2009 year, the 37 states (of 50) legalized the use of labor of prisoners by private corporations and the privatization of prisons.
The US prison industry was created on a truly American scale - it is a multi-billion dollar industry with its own advertising magazines, websites, online stores, catalogs, trade shows, manufacturers congresses, etc. Currently, the American private gulag produces almost 100% of all Army helmets, body armor, uniform belts, belts, ID cards, trousers, shirts, tents, backpacks, flasks and other ammunition produced for the US armed forces. In addition to army equipment, American sitters produce more than 90% of various assembly tools (drills, drills, jackhammers, etc.), more than 40% of civilian and police body armor, more than a third of complex household appliances, a third of office furniture, almost a third of headphones, microphones, megaphones , watches, computers, as well as complex medical and aviation equipment. Interestingly, even the global financial and economic crisis did not bring down all this prison industry.
Such world-famous American corporations as IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, and the largest US companies - AT&T, Wireless, Texas Instrument, Dell, Compaq, 3Com, Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA and others actively cooperate with prison companies. American business sharks were delighted with the news of such an opportunity - prisoners receive the minimum wage (and even then not always, working almost for free), there are no problems with labor discipline, etc.
Against the background of the American private prison business, the constant reproaches of American governmental and non-governmental human rights organizations regarding the Stalinist Gulag, a forced labor system that existed in the correctional labor colonies of the Soviet Union, are rather hypocritical. The authorities and business quite simply resolved the issue of attracting “proud and independent” American prisoners to practically free labor. According to the new rules, early release is possible only if the prisoner works in prison. Considering the fact that the US judicial system is very cruel — for example, death penalty or life imprisonment is required for intentional homicide, you can get 20-40 for armed robbery for years — most prisoners agree to almost free labor. No more than 25% is refused, mainly members of organized criminal groups, but they are subject to severe repression - for example, they are transferred to prisons with a more stringent regime, etc.
Another feature of the prison system of the “citadel of democracy” of the USA is that the country is one of those rare countries where teenagers are sentenced to death, from the 13-14 years already. However, as part of the "humanization" of legislation in 2005, the US Supreme Court replaced the death penalty with a life sentence without the right of pardon. Of the thousands of teenagers sitting on 90, more than 2 of thousands have such a sentence. An interesting fact is that in some states cigarettes and alcohol can only be bought from the 21 year, and the death sentence can be obtained in 13-14 years. In 26 states, adolescents can be jailed for school outages and escape from home.
