Media: US military assistance to Ukraine at 2018 for the year includes the provision of lethal weapons
In early May, the Senate of Congress approved the draft federal budget before 30 September 2017, which still provides for financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of at least 410 million dollars, including for military support.
It is noted that the Pentagon can spend 150 million dollars on "providing assistance, including (military) training, equipment, lethal defense weapons, logistics assistance," as well as "assistance of the intelligence community for the military and the national security forces of Ukraine."
The Russian Federation has repeatedly warned against plans to supply arms to Ukraine, since this step will only lead to an escalation of the conflict in the Donbas. As the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said more than once, deliveries weapons to Ukraine from the outside will not contribute to resolving the crisis in the Donbass and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
The majority of European politicians spoke against the supply of arms to Ukraine. Thus, the former Foreign Minister of Germany, the former OSCE Chairman, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said earlier that the supply of arms to Ukraine is a very risky and counterproductive way out of the crisis. The chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Peter Pavel, said he did not see the need for the supply of lethal weapons to Kiev, because it "would only increase the suffering of the people."
