Saakashvili believes that it is necessary to cancel the visa regime with the Russian Federation

Last Tuesday, the Georgian president made a proposal to unilaterally abolish the visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation. He said this at a parliamentary speech, reading the annual report on the situation in Georgia.
The ITAR-TASS agency quotes Saakashvili: “I am coming up with a new initiative - to unilaterally cancel the visa regime with Russia. Let every citizen of the Russian Federation know that he can come to Georgia without a visa: do business here, relax at our resorts, visit relatives and friends. ”
As the president noted, the Georgian authorities will maximally facilitate the arrival of Russian citizens in the country.
Recall that the visa regime between the Russian Federation and Georgia was introduced in 2000 by decision of the Russian government, and then Georgia introduced a visa regime for Russian citizens. With 2004 Georgia, unilaterally, the visa regime was simplified for Russian citizens. Since then, they receive visas for a period of one to three months immediately upon arrival in Georgia.
