Congratulate Egypt with the successful acquisition of "Katran"?

52

One of News from Le Bourget, where an international air show opened on June 19, there was news that Russia had won a tender for the supply of combat helicopters for Egypt.

It is planned to deliver the Ka-52K, the marine version of the shock Ka-52.

From the basic model Ka-52K differs by the presence of a shortened folding wing, which was modified to accommodate heavy weapons, and the mechanism for folding the blades, which is understandable for the marine version. A lot of space in the holds does not happen, the option is necessary.

Can I congratulate Egypt? Definitely possible. First, they received not just helicopter-carrying troughs, but also real combat stuffing for them. And not just military helicopters, but specially designed specifically for the "Mistral", under the dimensions of its compartments, elevators, and so on.

There are no more differences, otherwise “Katran” is still the same “Alligator”.

According to information received from representatives of the holding company "Helicopters of Russia", work is already underway to modernize the Ka-52K.

The essence of the work is the installation of a new airborne radar, which will allow the use of anti-ship missiles X-35 and X-38.

X-35В - subsonic missile capable of hitting high-explosive fragmentation warhead rocket, torpedo, artillery boats and other ships with a displacement of up to 5000 tons. The range of action - 130-150 km. Its land analogue is “Ball”.

X-38 is generally a new product, entered service in 2012 year. Flight range is smaller, to 40 km, but the speed in 2,2М allows you to send hello to the XU in 250 kg and make anyone think.

In any case, the Egyptian sea pilots can be congratulated. They will have at their disposal an excellent combat vehicle, no matter what anyone says. Moreover, the Ka-52 has already been tested in combat conditions.

The Egyptians are great. It is not known how many participants were in this tender, but they won it with the maximum result. Really, isn’t “Eurocopters” or “Sea Hawks” to complete “Mistrals”?

So, of course, congratulations, and at the same time I hope that the money obtained from the contract for the supply of helicopters to Egypt will allow our VKS and Navy to get as many of these beauties as possible at their own disposal.

This is definitely more important. First - in your house, and the rest can wait.

P.S. Yes, the photo shows not the Ka-52K, but the usual Ka-52. He didn’t become worse because of this, and if there is a photo, “accidentally” at hand, not copied from someone, why not?

Apparently American Cobras do not like them. The combat unit is good, but apparently from the United States they have disagreements over Mubarak and the Muslim Brothers.

And here I completely agree with you. What is the point of congratulating Egypt if there is someone to congratulate, but our defenders can be congratulated from the bottom of their hearts. The goods are good and there will be demand.

It is unlikely that they will bring much benefit to Egypt, because they are such Arabs Arabs. Even give them an iron dildo, they’ll either break it or lose it. However, nightmares of the same Arabs in the Sinai or in Yemen, even in the hands of the Arabs, will fit for some time. But for how long? Pinwheel is not AK, it requires at least some competent service and careful handling.

You should not believe in the nonsense that the author carried, such as: (c) not just combat helicopters, but specially designed specifically for the Mistral, for the dimensions of its compartments, elevators, and so on. (C) This Mistral was developed under K- 52, and the helicopter itself adapted to marine applications, which did not affect its main dimensions. Otherwise, it would not be K-52.

With all due respect to Roman, here you are right - the Mistral hangars were altered just under the Ka-52, and Katran tried, just to maximally compose, for a sea helicopter

The AH-1 Cobra is smaller in size than the KA-52 and it does not matter whether it was created for the KA-52.

No, of course I understand that a cobra is a combat helicopter, but comparing a four-ton low-armored vehicle with ten-ton K-52s is not a smart idea. Compare Abrams and Bradley, they have about the same weight ratio.

The Cobra Service List has proven itself over the past 40 years. And he fought in all the conflicts of the USA and Israel from the 60s. The first serious use of the KA-52 has just begun in Syria. And like a Navy helicopter, it is much better than the untested KA-52

Cobra, in principle, is not good. a completely different mass is not suitable for maritime operations.
NATO has at least 4 other helicopters for base on the Mistral, but the KA-52 does not lose them, except for the operation of the PLO.

Very interesting))))) The tender for delivery on June 19. A month ago, I talked with one foreman in Vladik, they wanted to invite his company to subcontract. That's bad luck, busy. And where is it busy? Yes, or a school, or something else in Arseniev remodel as a hostel, and under the conditions of a particular region and country. Naturally Egypt. It was the end of April, the beginning of May. Yes, yes, yes, naturally told him not to tell anyone like that.

Britons carry two light Linkes, but in different configs.
And I don’t even know who to thank about this deal, either Serdyukov scolded by everyone as a private trader of this multi-way scam, or the French as participants, the GRU General Staff, personally the GDP or all at once ... We got rid of the dubious acquisition, but got a bunch of orders for the military-industrial complex to re-equip these Mistrals and, as a result, "recaptured the ticket for bags of Turkish tea that had been wiped from the restaurant."

UDC tasks: landing, helicopter mobile base, command center. What of all this is necessary for the Navy in the ocean zone? The conquest of dominance in the ocean they won’t give, so many helicopters we can’t practically use anywhere, the functions of the command center are decentralized to increase survival. As the experience of using it, so far it seems to me that enough of the two pledged ones are enough, but for the capital evolution of the naval strategy, they would still not be enough.
Well, the fact that building for ourselves we spend our money on ourselves, and selling it, we get money. Now all hope is that the relevant authorities will not let this profit be stolen and that it will become a plus in the domestic development of the defense industry.

In vain you, g1washntwn, are trying to clarify something. Strategists at VO just need ten supercarriers in the Black Sea and at least four Mistral. For what? - To soothe the pride of the Great Russians!
Now everyone is happy: the Egyptians helped, now they have UDC with weapons. They helped the French, even though they “threw” Russia, they turned out to be right and made a profit.
            Who else would help?

The Marine Corps was introduced by Peter I, and Serdyukov twisted everyone's arms for contracts on the Mistral. So, we don’t have and never had marine corps?

which are designed to perform tasks

The answer most likely is that at the time of the order of the Mistrals, such tasks were being worked out, but now there are simply no such tasks in the zone of their interests or another way to solve them has been found. Think about it from that perspective.
You can build an airplane yourself, you can buy it ready, you can just buy a ticket from Aeroflot ... but if you need to transport a sofa, you won’t choose from the above and hire a cargo Gazelle. Or will you delve into options with an airplane?
Guards are desperate for sea landing (there are even such relatives), but the experience of aircraft carriers in the presence of serious missile coastal defense shows the absolute helplessness of such a UDVK in the radius of its defeat.
And to deal with those who have only “flying gas cylinders”, you can get right down to the coast with simple “container ships” (here, next to me, a friend was very offended by this word) without fuss and spray.

Syria - what place in the desert need a naval landing?
Kaliningrad - UBDK in the Baltic Sea, where everything is shot through the RCC along and across you will help you out for a long time, are you serious?
Kuril Islands - are we waiting for the capture of the islands by Japan or by someone else? (we won’t talk about Chinese comrades and Damansky, there was a disputed territory, and the islands in the Kuril Islands are the territory of the Russian Federation, a completely different song)
For massed landings, they are not suitable for an unprepared shore, but you yourself admitted.

I admit, for long-range special operations as a base and a carrier in one bottle. But how many tasks does the Russian Federation have? China has a lot of disputed islands, while others also have thousands of km of warm coast, both their own and ... potentially their own. The Russian Federation has only the Black Sea Fleet, Far East and the absence of plans to capture the islands and "potentially own" coasts.
To summarize: You think that you WAS needed then and now, I think - WAS needed, but in peacetime it is not critical and not fatal to the fleet. In addition, there are prospects for the development of domestic BDK.
