Italians presented the M-346FA lightweight fighter

The Italian "flying desk" has become a fighter. Leonardo held the first public demonstration of the M-346FA aircraft, reports "Warspot" with reference to the portal flightglobal.com

The M-346 was designed as a training aircraft, but thanks to a successful design it will now be produced in a modification of a light fighter. The M-346FA will debut at the Paris Air Show, but on 18 on June 2017, Leonardo held a press conference, during which it demonstrated its new creation.

Italians presented the M-346FA lightweight fighter

Light Fighter M-346FA

The company Leonardo declares that the M-346FA can be used as an aircraft for training combat pilots aviationas well as a light fighter or reconnaissance aircraft. The new aircraft is equipped with a multi-mode Grifo radar, electronic warfare system, reconnaissance module, as well as seven points for installing air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons with a total weight of up to 2 tons (five points were originally planned to be equipped, but more were added later two on the wingtips). The developers call the M-346FA the ideal solution for countries that need low-cost combat aircraft with low operating costs.

The M-346 training aircraft was designed by the Russian JSC Pilot Design Bureau im. A. S. Yakovlev, together with the Italian company L'Alenia Aermacchi. Due to disagreements between the partners, the development of the model ceased at the final stage, and each of the companies received documentation of the basic version of the future aircraft (glider). After that, both companies released their own models: M-346 (L'Alenia Aermacchi) and Yak-130 (Yakovlev Design Bureau).

The first flight of the M-346 took place on July 15 2004 of the year, and its mass production began in the year 2010. Today, the machine is used to train pilots in Italy, Singapore, Israel and Poland. The length of the M-346 is 11,5 m, the wingspan is 9,7 m. The mass of the empty aircraft is 4,6 t, the maximum take-off weight is 9,5 t. The crew of the M-1060 consists of two people.

      Fighter = radar.
Radars weighing in 105kg will not be sold (GRIFO-346 is one of the most compact full-featured radars in the world). Domestic counterparts are many times heavier, more energy intensive.

Consequently - to make a LFI from the Yak-130 will not be easy.

The drummer is simpler - but there, too, everything rests on target designation. If the M-346 just hangs a container with the right set of tools. That industry so far pleases only 3d models and non-functional mock-ups.

Of course it can. Only he can fight with a weaker opponent.
For example, our comrades from Central Asia could have such light fighters, if Novorossia occupies the territory of the former - Novorossiya, Left-Bank and Right-Bank Ukraine, then their Air Force armed with Russian Yak-130 and MiG-29 in the ratio of 3 to 1 would calmly cope with decrepit Air Force APU ....
The Yak-130 can be a light attack aircraft, but in Ukraine it is better not to use it as such (the APU and in the presence of armored Su-25 and weak air defense of the militias suffered huge losses in the aircraft fleet) ....

Which one? Initially, it has been declared compatible with AIM-120C5 / 7. The radar is certainly weak:
Track while scan 10 targets tracked, 8 displayed
      SAR resolution <1m
      Track formation range> 50 NM
      Look-up detection range> 60 NM

However - it is quite functional. And if on the other hand which MiG-29 9-13 without upgrades to avionics. That I would put 346. And in the world a car of flying rubbish. And the plane is positioned as a reaper, dudek and generally a station wagon.

What kind of thread a country with money at the level of Indonesia, Thailand, Zambia or even what Iraq - will go completely. They can also drive the broads. And patrol. And which board to force to land. If you press and fight even in DVB with modern airplanes (this is if the rockets are bought, of course).

It is not very usable against us. The level of the school desk will not allow. It is also possible to convert the "maize" into a combat unit. For a serious war is not suitable. In addition, a glider in an airplane is not more than 50% combat efficiency. So everything is normal. Nobody sold their homeland. Competitors, yes, have appeared, but then who will offer the final solution cheaper and more technologically. The combination of price and quality, as always.

Everything is correct here, because Indians have nothing to share with us in the field of military technology, let alone transfer PAK FA technologies (so that later the Americans and Israeli Jews would take things apart), give examples of the transfer of some developed country of its technology in the field of aircraft manufacturing in India .....

there are no such small-sized radars. can’t you even shove a radar into it from the Su-35 or MiG-35? just won't pull. and shoot down balloons (and not only) with the illumination of a ground-based radar, it is he who can now, as it is, the Yak-130th. although if you try, you can shove it ... but the shaw will not fit on the pylons under the fuselage. but then little space remains for rockets and bombs. need to force the engines. and so the Yak-130 can receive target designation from the other side, say, and launch a rocket. just as an independent combat unit, without its airborne radar, it will not work. and there’s no attack aircraft from it at all. like a bulletproof vest from a pot. to the Su-25 him as to China in Plastunsky. although the Syrians won’t even let the L-29s bomb the bearded. but increased losses. So far, the Su-25 in its niche does not let anyone close. unless the A-10 Thunderbolt. and vsu. well and Su-24 and 34, but these are already heavy aircraft, strictly bombers. Now, if the Yak-152 begin to be considered as an attack aircraft, the topic will be much more interesting. An UAV will come out of it ... diving like Stukas. just right .
