Finland successfully tested the new armored personnel carrier Patria AMV28A

Patria AMV28A during the testing of amphibious capabilities

During testing, Patria AMV28A was tested in two versions - the basic model (without weapons), as well as the version with an uninhabited turret, armed with an 30-mm gun. Representatives of the company Patria declare that both models have successfully passed the "exam" and, despite the strong wind (up to 17 m / s) and the excitement on the water, they passed the specified distance without any problems.

The official presentation of the Patria AMV28A was held in February this year at the international armory IDEX 2017. The new armored personnel carrier is an enlarged and "weighted" version of the Patria AMV combat vehicle, first introduced in 2001.

Patria AMV 28A armored personnel carrier

Patria AMV28A has powerful weapons for its class. In the base version, an uninhabited Kongsberg MCT-30 turret with a high-speed 30-mm Bushmaster Mk44 gun was installed on the armored personnel carrier. In addition, on the turret roof there is a remote-controlled Protector M153 OWS combat module, armed with a Browning M2 machine gun and the Javelin anti-tank missile system. Thus, the new armored personnel carrier Patria AMV 28A will be able not only to cover the infantry, but also to effectively deal with the enemy’s heavy armored vehicles.

The maximum level of frontal projection protection provided when installing additional passive protection armored modules - from 30 mm BOPTS, corresponds to Level 6 of STANAG 4569.

I'm not talking about armor, steering rods are all open, but it does not fly through the air, if it can’t maneuver, is that all right? hi

              "tie rods all open"
Also drew attention. With such protection of the control mechanism, trips across the forest belt are extremely contraindicated for him, not to mention a real forest.

Yeah, handsomeEllo ... Maybe, by all characteristics, the car is really good, but what is it so unbeautiful - then .. The wheels are quite narrow. Are you going to ride on hard ground?

The wheels seemed to me too narrow, and the diameter is too small.
          Somehow patency is doubtful.

The wheels are standard, just the BMP is huge. Patria itself is huge, but here it is still scattered times and a half.

Vojaka your car is more solid. Just without a weapon .. for now. and then fasten a couple of spikes and type of AGS to chegonit business is not tricky. AGS -17 is a good thing on armor, especially when the wheels, not the harp.

And narrow and the diameter is small and in general, something that does not look like the Finns they always had a good technique, and this is apparently a tribute to European fashion, in short model for BAMOV.

Just look at the closed wheel arches, where they will be plunged with full compression.
And on the roads, clay, sand, black soil - there they will bury him, they will not even pull him out.

Emotions are straight strange from the cart. Well, maybe it’ll work for a waterfowl, as I understand it, it was for the sake of waterflooding that huge floats and small wheels made it, but for sushi it’s not so hot that the floats will remain on trees and fences, it turned out very wide, but small passability wheels do not add . Of course, if you use it on the tracks it will work, but after all, in Finland and off-road there is enough, as I understand it, and here xs. In terms of cross-country boomerang should be much better.

The wheels are the same - full-time. They hung onboard pontoons-floats (similar to the onboard Kurganets-25), which increase security, including from cumulative ammunition, but, in addition to dimensions, slightly increase the combat weight of the vehicle (again, similarly to Kurganets).
The main goal of creating the modification is to increase seaworthiness and stability during sea waves for a slightly heavier and correspondingly higher version of an IFV with a DBM (30x173-mm gun Mk44 Bushmaster, 150 shells) of the well-known Norwegian company Kongsberg (the same DBM was chosen for installation on BM Stryker US Army, maintaining the previous capacity of vehicles).

The wheels are the same - full-time.

The side floats are quite low and close the arches of the wheel arches (niche), therefore, together with the increased width of the car and the front wheels turned counter-rotating, they seem disproportionately small.

There are basically 18 "-20" landing sizes.
The widespread sizes on this kind of technique, allowing you to install tires that provide the required load capacity and throughput, and under which various companies produce a sufficient range of tires.
Or do you think that for each model of technology its own wheel size is being developed?

Amphibian Patria AMV-28A (28 tons). 14.00 R20 - type of regular tires of the entire Patria AMV line. For "specialists" I repeat, onboard floats of only ~ 0,5 tons are quite low and cover the arches of the wheel arches only on the outer sides, i.e. Do not deprive the wheels of the upper arches themselves. The floats are made from the lower inner side also with a fairly large chamfer and do not interfere with the control wheels when cornering.
pjastolov, no need to dissemble! Tie rods and suspension levers under similar conditions can be seen on all wheeled BMs, especially our Boomerang and the French VBCI, which do not have the so-called. cheekbones in the lower nasal part of the armored hull (see BTR-80, Pandur, etc.). The cheekbone somehow closes the wheeled chassis from the front (for Boomerang and VBCI, the front wheels are completely open). By the way, even a student will tell you that you have to hit the wheels and the optoelectronic equipment, and no discoveries!
And the rest - the holy truth, the cross-country wheeled BM to hell, compared to tracked.
