Proton-M booster rocket with American satellite launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome
The rocket with the Briz-M booster module was launched at 6: 45 (MSK). A few minutes after the start, the staffing section of the first stage occurred, the engines of the second stage reached the required operating mode. Some time later the second stage was separated, and the launch of the third stage main engine took place.
Recall that the start of the Proton-M in connection with technical problems, which VO described in its materials, was postponed several times. The specialists of the M. Khrunichev Center and other Roscosmos enterprises carried out all the necessary work and carried out the pre-launch preparation complex of the launch vehicle itself.
All the details from the Roscosmos Communications Center, presented specifically for “VO”:
All stages of flight of the launch vehicle proceeded normally. After 9 minutes 42 seconds after launch, the orbital unit as part of the Briz-M upper stage and geostationary satellite separated from the third stage of the launch vehicle and continued its flight in an autonomous mode.
The achievement of the orbit of the launch of the EkoStar-21 spacecraft, a geosynchronous transitional orbit, will be accomplished at the expense of the 5-ti inclusions of the marching propulsion system of the Briz-M upper stage.
In accordance with the launch program, the separation of the EkoStar-21 unit from the upper stage is expected approximately 9 hours 13 minutes after the start - in 15: 58 Moscow time.
The contract to launch the EkoStar-21 spacecraft using the Proton-M launch vehicle was signed by the International Launch Services Inc., a Russian-American enterprise International Launch Services. (ILS).
The Ecostar-21 spacecraft was manufactured by Space Systems Loral / SSL (USA) by order of the global satellite operator Ekostar / Echostar (USA). EcoStar-21 is a newest geostationary spacecraft built on the 1300 SSL platform, designed to provide mobile satellite communications services in Europe.
