This year the second battery of the Tor-М2 air defense system will be delivered to the Belarusian army.

As ARMS-TASS reports from Minsk, by the end of 2012, the second battery of the Russian-made Tor-M2 air defense system will be put into service of the 120-th anti-aircraft missile brigade. The Belarusian Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Yury Zhadobin, told reporters yesterday at a press conference.

He said: “We signed a contract with Russian colleagues for the supply of a second battery by the end of the year. In the future, by the end of the 2013 of the year, we will have the 120th anti-aircraft missile brigade, fully equipped with modern short-range air defense systems. ”

The Minister also noted that Tor-M2 allows simultaneously firing at sixteen air targets. Thus, human participation here is minimized.

The delivery of the first Tor-M2 battery to Belarus from Russia ended in December of 2011. The Belarussian military department reported that the personnel of the brigade had been trained and retrained in managing the complex in Russia. It was also announced that the re-equipment of the new anti-aircraft missile system will significantly expand the combat capabilities of the Air Force and air defense forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus for air defense.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense also stressed that the rearmament of the 120 anti-aircraft missile brigade is a vivid example of the fruitful cooperation between Belarus and Russia.

A short-range air defense system is certainly good, but Belarus defends Russia from the west, and this is the most dangerous direction and it needs long-range weapons, S-400, Iskander, etc.

It’s not so big in territory this same Belarus .. Why substitute neighbors? C-400 and Iskander systems may well be placed on our territory ...

S-400 yes, I agree, but the Iskander is not an air defense system, but an OTRK - strike weapon.

I agree that Belarusians can be entrusted with such things, these will not take into account our weapons, like some (I will not point a finger), and then something more nice, but it seems like I heard that they have S-300s.

Why do Belarusians need such a weapon? They will not be able to use it if something happens ... The republic is small enough ... I agree that it would be just a setup on our part ...

That's right ... The Belorussian army and the Belarusian air defense in particular cover the Russian border as well ... And the cover should be good ...

In the west, Belarus is hated much more than even Russia itself, downright "Axis of Evil" ... but for what? Simply because it does not bend to Euro-American interests and conducts its own policy, independent of the opinion of the West, for the fact that it did not have color revolutions and it did not become a link in the chain of a pro-Western buffer of tension around Russia, but on the contrary develops economic cooperation and joint defense projects .. Well done brothers Belarusians that arm themselves, you need to be ready to meet the aggressor!

Everything is right in its own way, I cannot disagree with both comments, and in order to avoid such disagreements, Belarus must return to the borders of Russia, have lived together for so many years, and then all deliveries will be mandatory, no talk about what Belarusians need, it is not, it will not. If porridge starts, Russia will still be in the subject, will not leave the Belarusians with the aggressor. But if you unite, then the West twitches.

            Do not argue about that.
If we have a single air defense system, then the planning is the same.
The delivery of TOPs is not a delivery of the system to Belarus, it is the deployment of an element of a single system in Belarus.
If the command considers it expedient to move S-400 to Brest, they will move it. But again, as a movement within a single system.

TOR - this is the last line of cover for the ground forces (well, and air defense systems too). They have their own tasks. They do not cancel or replace long-range weapons. And it is very good that they are delivered to Belarus. They and Iskanders will be able to cover tracking stations and the S-400, if someone suddenly breaks through the first lines of the barrier.

A really striking example of cooperation ... Belarusians were the first, if anything, to take a hit and prepare air defense for us, a completely normal task ...

What you were saying was known even before you were born, and those who so stubbornly believed in it cruelly paid for it. And Belarusians deserve to be told about them (about Belarus and Belarus, as a state, which is rare today and neglect such relations as it’s impossible), children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, those who beat and finished off FRITSOV spoke out. Therefore, I can say that some komenty, which were published before the appearance of my komenta, have signs of disdain for truly fraternal people and the state. Statements of this kind on my part are perceived as provocation. If we respect ourselves as a cultural community, then we should not allow ourselves to make such statements.

No, this is not a car from Alien, this is the killer of enemy flotillas, both air and sea. Four aircraft are destroying a naval carrier group located up to 50 miles from the coast, each of which is controlled by 4 people. Like this.

I completely agree. In the case of aggression from the west, they are the first to take a hit. Consider our western border of the state (union), so they need to be fully staffed, of course, not to the detriment of updating our arms and military equipment.
