The program of deep modernization of the tank T-72: Omsk KBTM to it is fully ready

25

As ARMS-TASS reported from Omsk yesterday, Omsk KBTM is ready to implement the T-72 deep modernization program. Igor Lobov, general director of the Transport Machinery Design Bureau, told Itar-Tass that KBTM is eagerly awaiting the start of deliveries of vehicles from the troops. The personnel and production facilities of the enterprise are fully prepared for this large-scale work.

At a meeting with Vladimir Putin last week, Defense Minister A. Serdyukov and Uralvagonzavod General Director O. Sienko confirmed that the company has a deep modernization contract for one hundred and seventy T-72s, but can also increase the total number tanks fifty percent. Oleg Sienko said: "Specially for the deep modernization of this machine, we have deployed a second site in Omsk."

Omsk KBTM, which is part of the Uralvagonzavod SIC, is currently the owner of the power of the 2000-s that failed in the beginning. Omsktransmash plant, which produced the second in number in the troops after the T-72 battle tank T-80 and its modifications, including the latest developments (T-80U, T-80УК). At the time of stopping the production of T-80, there were already more than 6,5 thousands of these combat vehicles in the Russian army.

According to Igor Lobov, his company carries out scheduled repairs and maintenance of the T-80 and is preparing to continue such work on the basis of agreements with military districts. As the general director stressed, work on the T-72 will begin in parallel, as the repair fund is delivered to the plant from the Ministry of Defense.

The modernization of the T-72, as explained by the CEO, implies a complete disassembly of the combat vehicle and the replacement of the most important components with the upgraded ones. Including the installation of fire control systems, modern optical and electronic systems, new diesel engine ChTZ, navigation equipment, communications, protection from various damaging factors of the enemy. The improved T-72 will be close to the T-90 in combat and technical specifications.

There is more than one Russia on the path to modernizing main battle tanks. France is modernizing its "Leclerc", the United States is improving the "Abrams", Germany is engaged in "Leopards". Other countries are not far behind them. If comparable basic characteristics are achieved, upgrading costs 2,0-2,5 several times cheaper than releasing a new tank.

A. Serdyukov told 15 on February that the Ministry of Defense was discussing with Uralvagonzavod the possibility of increasing the volume of modernization of the T-72 - and already hopes to get a sample of the new version in 2013. At a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, the head of the Ministry of Defense said: “We discussed in detail today what concerns the profound modernization of the T-72. To date, we have a contract for one hundred and seventy cars - more than six billion rubles. It is being successfully implemented, and we agreed that the plant could open up additional capacity to increase the existing capacity for a deep modernization of the existing fleet of tanks. ”

Yes, how long it is already possible to modernize them, sell them and start production of a new tank, and it is better to modernize and sell at a higher price, and at this time to establish production of "Armata"

As much as you need, as much as you can, when you rivet this Armata 3-4 thousandth, then you can queue up for shopping, and now, it’s clearly said, to modernize!

I agree ... We are modernizing from poverty ... Nevertheless, they perfectly understand that this is temporary .. But there is no other way out yet .. there is no money, there is no capacity, and there are no new cars .. only for testing ...

It’s strange all the same .. In Omsk, however, 80s are being released .. Why take on additional things that they themselves don’t do? Or did Uralvagon become completely dead? Hmm .. poverty is not gut ....

It's no secret that the T-90, by and large, is no better than the T-80. The appearance of the T-90 is the result of the war of tank schools and the undercover fight in high offices.

It would be nice if Omsktransmash in the future begins to produce Armada

No offense, but I would like to clarify, rather we are modernizing not from poverty, but from the lack of a new car (Armata). Since tanks are needed now, therefore, we are moving along the path of modernizing the equipment available in service in order to increase its survivability and power.

How are we going to produce this "Armata" when there is neither money nor normal capacities? To put on a new production is very expensive. And how long to wait when the minimum required number of new tanks accumulates? In our conditions it is easier to upgrade. Not God knows that this modernization, but better than nothing.
... And is there that "Armata" in the production version?

Modernization is good, only in the morning the information flashed that it’s not so modernization as it is written here ... The engines, on the 1000, will not change the strong ones or anything else ... In short, the sights will be changed and thorough repairs will be done .. It's a shame if that is correct infa, not this one ...

That info from a private interview with a specialist, and here again propaganda from the Ministry of Truth about how cool and modern it is. I don’t understand why these T-72s need to be modernized if very soon the T-90 will be an obsolete model. It seems to me that everything is not so rosy with the production of Almaty and in sufficient quantities they will be produced much later than 2015, otherwise what is the point of upgrading the T-3 for 5-72 years.

Yes, it is better to upgrade 100 cars than to release 5. Moreover, to produce, there is especially nothing except the T-72, T-80 and T-90. So while the upgraded are being operated, you can create something new. Better than that. You need to start somewhere.

      The newest ??? !!!
      Yeah, on which side?
It is openly recognized that the T-90 is a deeply modernized T-72! Fully justified upgrade T-72 to T-90. We bring all the tanks to about the same level.
There is a lot of talk about Armat here, old-timers remember the announcement of the KBTM "black eagle". Nobody saw his tower, then there were a lot of rumors. Among them was a rumor about a deserted tower.

DO NOT upgrade and buy the latest T90!
Why buy new T-90s into the troops if it is a separately produced deep modernization of the T-72, it is much more profitable to upgrade the T-72s already in service and partially adjust their characteristics to the T-90 ... In the MO refusal to purchase T-90 there there is no wrecking or malicious intent, as some people think, and lack of funds is not a reason either, there really is simply no need for new T-90s if the troops have about 10000 T-72s which are fundamentally no worse than that, well, weaker booking and less powerful engine, but T-72 and lighter while the thief voltage at them with T-90 is generally identical. It’s correct that they upgrade the T-72 now and there’s simply nothing to replace them right now, and there’s no point in riveting the largely outdated T-90s from scratch ...

It is unlikely that a deeply modernized machine can replace the newest tank, but if the top people consider the expediency of modernization, then this is the only option at this stage.

The main thing is that they start to do something, and do not interfere with advice. And there, new models will be made.

This is a very correct opinion +1.
Moreover, the process of modernization itself is constant, any late model of equipment differs from earlier releases. And not one world economy will not allow itself to have only the latest models.

But completely stopping the purchase of new tanks is also wrong)) If this is not the development of the plant, this will especially apply to new personnel))) How will they learn to assemble modern tanks if they only upgrade old ones)) winked

Look at the Abrams - their new tank is just a modernization of the old one, in fact they didn’t come up with a fundamentally new one, so the T-72 needs to be upgraded, especially since they have a large reserve for this.

How much can you slur the topic of the unnecessary modernization? All countries (even the one that draws money) are modernizing tanks. So it’s not poverty. You, do not respect our experts, God is your judge. But is it true that Western experts, you do not have authority?
Before posting explicit stupidity again. Answer your own questions. Where to get so much money for re-equipment with new tanks (if you suddenly forgot, the army needs more than tanks alone). How to do it quickly (or do you think geopolitical friends will be waiting for us?)? What tasks in the foreseeable future, the modernized tank will not be able to perform? And the simplest question is where to get a new tank (T-90 is not new, and not breakthrough. Will we wait, idly by?)?
