Rosoboronexport praised Izhevsk weapons and export prospects Izhmash
During the meeting, Igor Sevastyanov noted that in the 2011 year, as before, Izhmash qualitatively, timely and fully met its obligations to fulfill contracts for the supply of small arms to foreign customers. The parties approved the joint activity program and pricing for 2012, as well as discussed the prospects for partnership in 2013-2014.
Heads of Rosoboronexport got acquainted with Izhmash’s weapons production, assessed the scale of modernization carried out at the enterprise, as well as the quality of the products supplied for export. At the plant’s control and testing station, they were able to personally test the military products of Izhevsk gunsmiths in shooting: the SV-98 sniper rifle, the Vityaz submachine gun, the AK-12 Kalashnikov automatic rifle, the 18,5 KS-K and Saiga rifle -12. Representatives of Rosoboronexport highly appreciated the quality of Izhmash products, especially noting the new AK-12, which, in their opinion, will be in great demand among foreign customers.
During the visit to Izhmash, much attention was paid to the urgent problems of foreign economic activity, in particular the lengthy procedure for issuing licenses for the export of military weapons. Due to the complex licensing process, many potential customers can wait for a sample of weapons for certification from 6 to 12 months, which is not conducive to receiving and implementing orders. To remedy this situation, it was decided to jointly apply to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation with a request to introduce a notification procedure for issuing licenses for the export of small arms.
“We expect that the support of the department will help to provide Izhmash with new large orders that will allow us to increase production, wages to employees, ensuring the stable development of the enterprise. Together we will be able to ensure the effective implementation of all planned programs and the implementation of all export supplies, ”summed up the visit of Rosoboronexport. General Director of NPO Izhmash OJSC Maxim Kuzyuk
