The redistribution in the post-Soviet space has led to the fact that many servicemen have found themselves outside of Russia. The fact that the families of Soviet soldiers in the Baltic States, in the republics of Central Asia, had to go through, is a topic for separate materials. The fact remains that a new reality was born, in which the first place was not the officer's honor trying to emerge, but speculation on the status of hundreds of thousands of servicemen.
Many modern officers who survived that time called him the most painful in his life: there was no army, no country, no prospects.
However, the years went by, and the Russian army, experiencing the hardest pages of its history, strengthened and developed as much as was possible under those conditions. And the conditions - in fact, the complete lack of funding, when the personnel officers were forced after the service to go to work as security guards in jewelry stores or taxi drivers. Experienced and this.
In place of the army comes an army of a completely new model. What is encouraging, while maintaining the most important link - in fact the basis of the Armed Forces. Speech and perennial traditions, which, fortunately, have not been lost, despite all the difficulties experienced by the Russian military.
The Armed Forces of Russia today are one of the main security bases of the Russian Federation. They include about 850 thousand military personnel of various types and arms. Moreover, over 2,2 million people are in the reserve of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Statistics show that the number of personnel in the Russian Armed Forces occupies fifth place in the world (after the PRC, USA, India and the DPRK). But in terms of combat potential, equipment with weapons, professionalism of the military, the number of military exercises of the RF Armed Forces among the main leaders. In particular, in terms of equipment tanks international experts put the Russian army in first place in the world.
Whether it is possible to assess readiness to sacrifice oneself for the sake of the defense of the Fatherland by points, ticks and other numerical variations is a more philosophical question. But an important feature of the Russian army is precisely that for the overwhelming number of people who have linked their fate with the defense of their homeland, precisely the readiness for self-sacrifice is a key factor. Material well-being is an important thing, but, as history and practice show, security and material goods are far from always playing the first fiddle in protecting the interests of their homeland. By 2020, the army should be updated technically by about 70%. This makes the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation one of the most modern technically among all the armies of the world. Someone it causes tooth gnashing, but for with their gnashing such person should be left alone ...
