The Center for Public Relations (DSP) of the FSB reports on the suppression of illegal activities of persons who were supporters of the terrorist group ISIL (* prohibited in the Russian Federation). The activity of the so-called "sleeping" cell was stopped in the Sakhalin region. According to the FSB DSP, supporters of ISIL (*) planned to carry out terrorist acts at mass facilities.
As a result of operational-search activities in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a citizen of one of the Central Asian republics and a citizen of Russia were detained. During searches in their places of residence, an IED (improvised explosive device) with ready-made striking elements, components for its manufacture, IG propaganda materials (*) and prohibited extremist literature were found and seized. In the mobile phones of the detainees, the schemes for manufacturing the VCA were found.
It was noted that a criminal case was initiated against the detainees. Established the circumstances of how these individuals were involved in the activities of the terrorist group "Islamic State" in the territory of the Russian Federation.
According to some reports, the detainees were employed in the construction industry.
