The US donates a large WHEC 722 Morgenthau patrol boat to Vietnam

According to the blog bmpd, The United States intends to transfer to Vietnam a large WHEC 722 Morgenthau (Hamilton type) patrol ship, removed 18 on April 2017 from the US Coast Guard.

WHEC 722 Morgenthau is one of the 12 large US Coast Guard patrol ships of the Hamilton type, commissioned from 1967 to 1972. Since 2011, ships of this project are being withdrawn from the US Coast Guard and sold by foreign fleets. Until recently, 7 ships were decommissioned, of which 3 were transferred to the Navy of the Philippines (WHEC 715 Hamilton, WHEC 716 Dallas and WHEC 719 Boutwell), 2 to the Navy of Nigeria (WHEC 718 Chase and WHEC 721 Gallatin) and 2 to the Navy of Bangladesh (WHEC 723 Rush and WHEC 725 Jarvis). Ships are handed over free of charge, but the recipient country must pay for the repairs and necessary modifications to the ships, and the training of their crews in the United States.

WHEC 722 Morgenthau, destined for Vietnam, entered service on the US Coast Guard in March 1969, was decommissioned on April 9, 18, in Honolulu, Hawaii. This delivery will be the most significant transfer of US military property to this country since 2017.

In the 1970-1971, Morgenthau was extensively used during the American Vietnam War. His task was to stop the supply by sea of military supplies from North Vietnam to the Viet Cong forces in South Vietnam. He was attracted to the shelling of the coast during operations against the Viet Cong.

In 1970-1971, Morgenthau was actively used during the American war in Vietnam.

Hi Dima! hi Appetite comes with eating - they probably distributed inflatable boats among armored admirals a long time ago. Well, go fishing there or something. Now give them something more serious! On an inflatable boat, even furniture can not be transported to the country. So they croaked that they were ready to accept ships for free. And then such a passage - not to them, but they gave Vietnam ... crying

Probably carving for scrap is more expensive. And here, for repairs and for training, you can cut money. And to sketch, they say we are "good and generous."

The sad thing is that the United States does not just utilize trash by sawing it up, and gives it to other countries such as free of charge for a fee, plus further repairs, spare parts, shells and other weapons for weapons.
Mattress companies ... drop by drop but receive orders for equipment, spare parts and if repairs are needed.
And we have the same MiGs repairing everyone and sundry, because our service and looistics are deep ....... pit. )))

Free cheese happens only in a mousetrap. Thus, the Shtat forces are slowly pushing other arms suppliers aside.
The scheme is simple - the boat is old, which one - no spare parts are needed, it costs money and is sold only in the historical homeland. Well, further along the knurled track before selling at quite real prices for equipment.
        Miser pays twice.

And what prevents us from transferring deductible vessels and ships to Vietnam under the same conditions? We prefer to wait until they rot at our bases. Americans are practical and we need to learn from their experience and regret that this comes to our ministers with difficulty. (((

So they already leave billions in the USA, for example on 737MAX:
VietJet will sign the agreement Monday in Hanoi during President Obama's visit to Vietnam. Delivery of the Boeing 737 Max 200 planes will run for four years beginning in 2019 and will help the carrier expand its fleet to 200 by the end of 2023, the company said in a statement.

According to market pricing data from aircraft valuation firm Avitas, the deal is worth approximately $ 5 billion after standard discounts.

This is only the second order for the high density version of the 737 MAX, following a launch order from Ireland's Ryanair.

And Vietnam Airlines - they bought Dreamliners in general and received the first:

    And why are we yelling?
This is a border guard, they do not need advanced modern systems, his task is to chase offenders with poachers and provide assistance if necessary. you do not need a 2017 release ship for this.
And the Chinese poachers are insolent there, so having a ship with a small gun, a helipad and the ability to accommodate an expanded inspection team - what’s wrong with that?

By the way, these potential expenses are actually the problem of Vietnam, and not ours. Let's think about our expenses, and not count money in someone else’s pocket ... After all, many of our ships in the Navy also do not shine with special novelty ....

They are eager to Camran. Americans have long wanted to return there. Negotiate and so on. and Vietnam seems amenable to, in the 14th year, first allowed the entry of warships in Kamran, and after some time banned. In 15, America requested a ban on the use of jump airfields in Kamrani.
If you look at the map of the sea routes, you can see that from there you can control all the maritime traffic of the region. And tankers that go from the Persian Gulf to China as well.
And this vessel is like a gesture of goodwill, like a gift with double benefit, and relations begin to be established, and the trough at their factory will be repaired, and officers will be trained in the Tane, there is an opportunity to probe with intelligence.
Mattresses do nothing for nothing, the systematic approach can only be envied, and ours would be nice to learn from them.
