According to the command of the US Navy, the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford CVN-78 is ready to begin testing this week, during which all the systems of the ship will be tested. In the meantime, the aircraft carrier is at the berth of the Newport News military shipyard in Virginia, waiting for favorable weather to sail, the portal reports. USNI News.

The aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford CVN-78 was supposed to enter service with the US Navy in September 2016. However, due to faults found during the acceptance tests, this period has shifted by more than a year. It was reported that the aircraft carrier had problems with two of the four power generating turbines, and during the tests conducted last summer, voltage regulators failed. In addition, the tests revealed problems with some onboard systems that failed more often than allowed by regulations.

The aircraft carrier is the most expensive ship in the world stories. Its construction cost the US military almost 13 billion dollars. The ship was laid on November 13 2009 of the year and launched on November 9 2013 of the year. Gerald R. Ford has 337 meters in length, maximum width of 78 meters, displacement of the order of 100 000 tons and is designed for 90 airplanes and helicopters. F-35, F / A-18E / F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler airplanes and MH-60R / S helicopters will be stationed on the ship.

Yes, it’s enviable, but we don’t have that kind of money, so we will solve this problem by other means and methods - thank God they are.

Yes, it’s not a matter of the fact that there is no money, but of the fact that it doesn’t stop them, for example .... how to correctly express it and comrades?
The aircraft carrier is the most expensive ship in world history. Its construction cost the US military budget almost at 13 billion dollars.

But essentially this whole modern aircraft carrier costs like 6 B-2 Spirit bombers
          (1. B-2 was worth 2.1 billion of the then money).
I don’t know how to formulate this feeling of something, to me personally, completely incomprehensible.

As for the Chinese, they are building a second aircraft-carrying cruiser, and the third and fourth are not far off, so the Chinese will defend their interests at sea with the help of such ships, and we will be hats, but heroically.

Judging by Syria, aircraft carriers are needed, but not as much as in the United States. If there were no airbase there, then ... And so, in my opinion, a couple of aircraft carriers would be needed. It is impossible to use such ships against a serious adversary. For example, the Tu-22M3 has a much greater radius of action (3500 km. + RCC range) than the F-35, F-18 (in the article, Ford's armament). Take RCC at least BraMos, the Indians say that the range of more than 400 km - what can we say about the Russian RCC.
The United States in the world is projecting its power through aircraft carriers. Russia, in my opinion, you can order the corps of aircraft carriers in ... China, and completely put your stuffing. The shipyards built by aircraft carriers in the USSR remained in Ukraine. I don’t know, I’ve built some shipbuilding facilities in the Far East with the help of the Koreans — maybe they can pull it — but there seems to be work (orders) already there. hi

If you order large cases, it is better in South Korea. A stuffing in Japan.
In general, shipbuilders would benefit from more frequent practice in these 2 countries.
              China specializes in smaller vessels.

Yes, the target. Kuzya is no better; he is different. Yes, this Papuans scare. In a real conflict, any aircraft carrier will live as long as its tedious time to detect it and throw it with missiles and no air defense will protect it.

And Kuzya, if anyone does not know, is an aircraft carrier missile cruiser. He will surely survive any Avik and will be able to send a few rackets to the enemy and knock down a bit of airplanes and enemy rockets until they sink him.

it’s not just a matter of strength. We shamefully lag behind even in technologies of seemingly not sophisticated construction. We do not have an adequate shipyard. There is no stock of industrial capacities. And there are no ports adapted for such ships. No one.
And most importantly - there is no culture of care and operation of such ships. We’ll spend X billions, build, and then ditch in 10 years and endless reconstruction will begin until patience is burst and written off.

VAh. Well, tell us what is more epic "scary" this caravanserai against the backdrop of our "kuzi"? Can you also explain how the barmalei are distinguished by the bombs raining on them from the aircraft of the ground airfield and from the aircraft carrier?
It has long been clear that aircraft carriers are from the despair of mattresses sitting "behind a puddle", while we residents of the Heartland arrive both cheaper and more correctly - we build airfields on the ground and are ironed and more and more efficient from them.
I’ll tell you more than that - if you dig out the official data on flights in the last war against Iraq, then you will see - the Aviki are godless and on the ground airfields. And this is with the apologists of the aircraft carrier of the American builders.
