The world's largest amphibious aircraft AG600 begins test tests
Wang Zhenlong, deputy chief designer of the project, noted that the aircraft had been tested for autonomous power supply and simultaneous operation of all four engines. Also, the developers tested the basic systems of the new machine.
In the near future, the aircraft should pass tests for taxiing on the runway.
The AG600 crew will consist of three people.
China completed the assembly of AG600 in July last year. The aircraft, designed to extinguish fires and rescue work on the water, off the assembly line in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.
Manufacturing company China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co has received orders for the production of 17 machines.
The AG600 Jiaolong (“Water Dragon”) aircraft has a length of 39,3 m, a wingspan of 39 m and the claimed maximum take-off weight of 53,5 t, which, according to Chinese media, makes it the largest modern seaplane in the world. AG600 has four WJ6 turboprop engines with an 5100 HP takeoff power. (a copy of the Soviet AI-20 engine) with six bladed propellers.
