Saudi Arabia will open on its territory the production of Chinese UAVs
The agreement provides for the organization in the territory of the kingdom of production drones.
The document was signed during the visit of King Al Saud to China. Its details are not disclosed. KACST only noted that "the purpose of the agreement is to develop a strategic partnership between the two countries."
Earlier it was reported that the Chinese company is promoting the Cai Hong family of UAVs (CH - Cai Hong / Rainbow) to the Saudi market. It is assumed that the production will be organized as the military and civilian UAVs. They will enter the domestic and international markets.
In November, the 2016 of the year CASC for the first time demonstrated the most modern unmanned aerial vehicle of the Cai Hong family, the CH-5 UAV. The maximum take-off weight of this drone is 3,3 t, the payload mass is 1200 kg, the flight duration is about 39 h. CASC also developed and sells drums of the CH-3 BLA.
In February, 2017, the Xinhua news agency reported that “flight tests of the new Wing-Lung-2 UAV (Wing-Loong II) had begun.” At the same time, the publication noted that even before the start of flight tests, the company concluded the largest stories export contract for the supply of this UAV with an unnamed customer.
