Press office Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is quoted by the speaker of the parliament, Andrei Parubiy, in which he declared the “worst possible scenario” of the Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2017”. Speaking at a meeting of the Poland-Lithuania-Ukraine Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Paruby said that these exercises "should not be viewed in the context of Russian aggression."
According to the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, “Russia can use the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the legend of military exercises to carry out aggression against neighboring countries. Paruby noted that this is “a maximum task” for Russia. When Parubiy was asked what the minimum task might be, he said that the minimum task was “militarization of Belarus”.
Andrei Parubiy:
The Kremlin rudely uses the Belarusian people as a hostage of its occupation policy.
Parubiy didn’t speak about how the Ukrainian people use Maidan’s power in Ukraine itself as a hostage of their destructive-criminal policy.
At the end of his speech, Paruby announced that Europe should respond to Russia's plans and “not allow Putin to translate these plans into reality.” Paruby suggested that Polish and Lithuanian deputies, together with the Ukrainian ones, turn to “other centers of Europe and the USA in order to minimize the threat emanating through the Belarusian territory from Moscow”.
