Russian air defense defenseless in front of the JAGM missile
Companies Raytheon and Boeing for the first time published a video of live firing with the latest JAGM missile.

23 June during a test rocket hit a direct hit target size 2,4 × 2,4 m, located at a distance 16 km from the launcher. This test is one of the last steps in the adoption of this munition into service.

The video clearly shows how the rocket leaves the launch guide with climb and hits the target with a dive. One of the test conditions was the testing of a three-mode homing head for the effectiveness of target acquisition in all modes: infrared, laser and millimeter-wave radio waves. Three-mode homing head provides high accuracy of hitting the target and guarantee protection against any interference.

JAGM missile should replace the main weapon helicopters and attack aircraft - AGM-114 Hellfire and AGM-65 Maverick missiles.

The adoption of the JAGM rocket into service with AH-64 Apache helicopters will seriously change the balance of power on the battlefield. The fact is that modern army air defense systems that protect deployed units on the battlefield have a firing range of about 10 km. So, the newest Russian air defense system Tor-M2U (which will begin to arrive in the troops in 2011 year) with "pressure" and assumptions on the firing range only approaches 16 km. AH-64 with JAGM can quite safely bombard the air defense system, while also taking advantage of the shelters and folds of the terrain - thanks to the “let-forget” principle (i.e., it came out from behind the shelter, launched the rocket and hid again).

Naturally, with the advent of JAGM on the battlefield, the firepower and security of the helicopter will increase significantly, and the effectiveness of modern military air defense will decrease.

Yes, armored vehicles, this is a 2,5 x 2,5 m shield without protective equipment.

I do not know who composed this review at all, what 16 km in 11 with a stretch, I did not understand. How much will this rocket have, 16 km? Will they only have this in 2016? So a little rummaged on the Internet, at least the anti-aircraft missile machine-gun complex Pantsir-C1, which was created in 1994, is already in serial production in 2010. Two-stage missiles are equipped with a three-mode guidance system, a range of 20 km on a wiki can be found in more detail at ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Shell-C1 and probably this is not the most modern thing.
In short, it’s only America’s dreams and nothing more.

For the sake of interest, I looked for military-technical characteristics of army air defense (http://akadempvosvkiev.ucoz.ru/index/foto_i_kratkie_ttkh/0-44)

BUK-M1-2 - Range of target destruction from 3 to 32 km
    "S-300V" - Range of hitting a target from 6 to 75 km

Something tells me that their Apache will be shot down before it can fire :-))).

2Oleg: and have there been a lot of "Pantsir" troops since then? What is more modern?
2 Vlad: Buki and S-300 are already medium and long-range air defense. A small (Torah, Tunguska)?
