Russia is ready to accept the treatment of the Serbian General Ratko Mladic
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on March 20, the lawyers of the former commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Republika Srpska, Ratko Mladic, sent a procedural motion to the ICTY to temporarily release the accused and transfer him to Russia for treatment. RIA News
According to the ministry, Mladic's health condition is deteriorating.
Ratko Mladić, accused by the Hague military tribunal of crimes during the Serbian-Croatian conflict, is confident that he, like many other high-ranking Serbs, is deliberately and systematically led to his grave.
Mladic, through his family, asks to convey to the public that he does not believe the tribunal’s doctors and does not want to replenish the impressive list of Serbs who died or fell ill with deadly diseases in the Hague prison.
The Russian Foreign Ministry expects that "the ICTY will quickly decide on temporary release and allow Mladić to undergo treatment in one of the Russian medical institutions," the report said.
The trial of Ratko Mladic, who is accused by the ICTY of genocide, crimes against humanity, violating the laws and customs of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina 1992-1995, began on 16 in May 2012.
During the conflict, General Mladic commanded the army of the Republika Srpska. He was hiding 16 for years from international justice and was arrested by the Serbian authorities in 2011 year. The court of first instance judgment is expected in November 2017 of the year.
