Tu-144 - the successes and failures of the battle for supersonic

30
60-s. Leading countries in the aircraft industry begin the race to create a passenger supersonic aircraft. For the first time, the Soviet Union, one of the main participants in the race, was able to lift the aircraft of this class - Tu-1969 - for the first time. He was the first passenger supersonic aircraft to ascend into the sky. In only two months, the French-English Concorde will make its first flight. And then the fate of the domestic car is not so happy. Drama and tragedy pursue a proud domestic iron bird.

Tu-144 - the successes and failures of the battle for supersonic

For the first time, the Tu-144 rises into the sky on the last day of 1968. The machine was run by test pilot E.Elyan. As a passenger aircraft TU-144, the first in the world overcame the speed of sound at the beginning of June, 1969, at an altitude of 11 kilometers. The second speed of sound (2М) Tu-144 took in the middle of 1970 of the year, being at the height of 16.3 kilometer. Tu-144 has absorbed many innovations design and technical plan. Here I would like to note this decision as the front horizontal tail. With the use of [PGO], the maneuverability of flight was improved and the speed was quenched when the aircraft approached the landing. Domestic Tu-144 could be operated from two dozen airports, while the French-English "Concord", having a high speed when landing, could only sit at a certified airport. The designers of the Tupolev Design Bureau did a tremendous job. Take, for example, field tests of the wing of the new aircraft. They were held on a flying laboratory - the MiG-21I aircraft, converted specially for testing the design and equipment of the future Tu-144 wing.

1973 year. Demonstration flight at Le Bourget Soviet Tu-144, tail number 77102. During the flight the plane crashes. Weight crew died. There were quite a few versions of the incident: making a sharp maneuver to avoid a collision with the Mirage, a failure in the control system, making a difficult maneuver that the Tu-144 design did not withstand. Today, after many years, it can be concluded that, most likely, the following has happened. A new experimental equipment was installed on board the ship for automatic flight control, and perhaps the pilots used it to complete a complex figure. However, it is precisely known that the crew’s fault in the plane crash is absent. This, though, and undermined the reputation of the aircraft, but work on improvement continued. Tu-144 released to make passenger traffic. For the first time, the Tu-144 with passengers on board rises into the sky at the end of 1977. Regular route Moscow - Almaty. Passenger traffic carried two Tu-144, tail numbers - 77109 and 77110. An interesting fact is that the airplanes were piloted from the Tupolev Design Bureau, the aeroflots pilots always played the role of co-pilots. The cost of the flight was 20 rubles more than a regular plane flight, and was 68 Soviet rubles. But the operation of the aircraft was very short because of its unprofitability. Tu-144, created for ultra-fast flights over long distances, could not find himself in domestic passenger traffic. Due to the price of a ticket, supersonic airplanes almost never were fully loaded, which, in the end, leads to the decommissioning of both aircraft. Seven months of use for its intended purpose, and in the middle of 1978, the Tu-144 left forever from the lines of Aeroflot. A little later, the Tu-114D aircraft began to carry out freight transportation on the route Moscow-Khabarovsk. In total, during the operation of the Tu-144, 3194 people were transported, 102 flights were carried out, of which 55 were passenger flights. Built aircraft 64 Voronezh plant. By the time of decommissioning, the 16 units of the Tu-144 units left the factory. The planes flew more than 4 thousands of hours in more than 2.5 thousands of sorties. The 4 aircraft under construction at the factory were not completed, but the bases were dismantled.

Tu-144 still rose to the sky to perform various tests and test the maximum capabilities of the aircraft, which was reflected in the establishment of world records. During one of the test flights of the upgraded Tu-144D in May 1978, another plane crash occurs. An aircraft with an 77111 flight registration vehicle makes an emergency landing in the field. The cause of the accident was the destruction of the fuel line, which led to the ignition of fuel in the third SU. There was a cabin smoke, the crew had to turn off two engines to prevent a fire and go to the forced one. Having made an extreme landing, the commander of the car, the navigator and the co-pilot were able to leave the cockpit through the window, the engineers who were in the cabin, left the plane through the front door. But two flight engineers were clamped by the deformed parts of the aircraft during landing and died.

95-99 years. Tu-144D with tail number 77114 was used by the American NASA as a flying laboratory. Received the name of the Tu-144LL. The main purpose - research and testing of American developments to create their own modern supersonic aircraft for passenger traffic.

almost all the achievements on the Tu-144 have found their application in creating such a masterpiece as the Tu-160, which we are still proud of!

        L. Konstantin is right. as a passenger airliner for domestic airlines, he was not needed. as a fact of superiority in the aircraft industry - yes, no doubt!

spotted and drunk pre-collaborated, the mind was only enough for the collapse of the country and squandering the public domain.

Given the new technologies and materials, for example, you can make a supersonic business jet.

In my opinion, he even starred in a movie. "Crew", along the way ... The pilots were still wearing white uniforms with gold embroidery.

Thank you for the memory of the Tu-144. About the people who created this pride of our civil aviation and gave him a ticket to life. It is a pity that our aircraft engine designers could not provide this aircraft with sufficiently economical and reliable engines. which did not allow the USSR to become the first power in the world with supersonic civil aviation. A.N. Tupolev with this plane was ahead of his time.

It is useless. All is well in due time. Lost both personnel and technology. The road back is a road to a standstill. We must go forward, not forgetting those who were ahead of time, who did not work for money and fame, but thought about their country.

160s fly so far. They are still supported, but I have never heard of the construction of new Tu-160s (an order for construction) for the Air Force.

In the 70s, I often had to dangle from Moscow to A-Ata and vice versa. With my own eyes I saw a Tu-144 flight on a schedule. It was performed once a week (!). Ordinary Tu-1 and IL-154 performed non-stop flights 62 times a day. So estimate, how many were willing to wait for the exotic for a whole week to save 2 hours. And there was exoticism - knowledgeable people said that after takeoff, in gaining speed and accelerating to cruising speed, overload was clearly felt. Of course not the same as on fighter jets, but still ... Then the characteristic stratospheric sky, where the sun and stars are visible at the same time.

In addition, once on the route Moscow - A-Ata, the Tu-144 had a prerequisite, something failed. After takeoff, the crew had to urgently drain the fuel supply and return to the point.

Chic aircraft! Like the Su-100, M-50, etc.
But the pattern will be traced - everything in this country is not on time and out of place ?!
And these "knowledgeable people" in city elevators do not feel sick and overload when lifting?
And "the characteristic stratospheric sky, where the sun and the stars are visible at the same time" and by the way, it is clear that the earth really has the shape of the Krassovsky ellipsoid can be seen only from H above 24 meters!
This is just in case, for "spreading" the horizons !!!

Foolish things, my friend a veteran of the Air Force with respect to 24 meters. He personally observed this picture from the MiG-000 at much lower altitudes. Even now, rarely does anyone work at altitudes of 21, but ask those who rose above the troposphere and they will confirm my point to you.

And with the F-14 that you have on your avatar, you really can’t see this from the shaver.

I will not argue from the 21st I have not seen, but from 31 to 20 it is already visible, but 000 and above already in space.
And why don’t you like the avatar? Firstly, a cool car, although it’s age with a beard, but unfortunately there are no pictures of yourself on a shaver, otherwise it would have been our plane!

Oh well. They also "hacked" the wings, the leaning nose cone, chassis, fuselage, engines, PGO, keel, for some reason they added stabilizers, removing the "duck" scheme, etc. And the rest of the Tu-160 is a spilled Tu-144.

One of the most high-profile and resonant tragedies of the past year - the death of the Lokomotiv hockey team as a result of the crash of the Yak-42 aircraft - led to large-scale checks at flight schools. As a result of the inspection, 78 pilots lost their diplomas.

This was announced by the Ural transport prosecutor Pavel Kukushkin at a press conference in the regional information center "TASS-Ural", the press service of the department reports. In particular, the check was carried out at the Buguruslan Flight School, which is located in the Orenburg region and is a branch of the St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation.

It turned out that the cadets of this educational institution did not receive proper training on flying equipment, and the teachers did not have the necessary education. As a result, 78 diplomas were canceled. "According to international organizations, about 80% of air accidents occur through human fault. Therefore, the training of specialists in this industry should be under special control," the ITAR-TASS news agency quoted Kukushkin as saying.

However, the check led not only to the deprivation of pilots diplomas. After a presentation sent by the department, the school received 11 aircraft, 6 engines and 6 aircraft were repaired.

The check took place in a number of other educational institutions, including the Troitsk Aviation Technical College (Moscow region), RIA Novosti reports.

One of the options for solving the personnel issue in the aviation industry of Russia may be the passage of alternative military service at the enterprises of the agro-industrial complex, including in the aviation industry. At least, this is the opinion of Gennady Savinov, a member of the RF Federation Council Committee on Science, Culture and Information Policy. "Children who have received a higher engineering education should be offered alternative service at work, in the agro-industrial complex, at the enterprises of the Ministry of Defense, the aviation industry, because these industries are most connected with the army," Savinov told RBC-TV.

Another solution to the problems of personnel training is to pay for training or retraining by the employer. The employee, in turn, will have to work out a certain period of time at the customer company, and in case of refusal to return the money spent on training.
