Consolidated detachment of the MPTS RF Armed Forces arrived for the removal of Palmyra

As the press service reported today Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, another unit of the consolidated detachment of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (MTC of the RF Armed Forces) arrived in Syria to assist in the humanitarian demining of the ancient city of Palmyra.
The personnel and equipment were transferred from the Moscow region to the Khmeimim airbase by military transport aircraft aviation, after which a detachment using standard equipment made a march to Palmyra.

First of all, the specialists of the mine action center will clear the roads leading to the social infrastructure of the city, hospitals, water and electricity, as well as mine historical part of Ancient Palmyra.
In addition to the standard means in the course of demining, promising samples of tools for the search and detection of explosive objects, as well as the protection of sappers will be tested for the first time in practice.

In total, more than 150 specialists from the combined detachment of the MPTs Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and 17 units of special equipment were transferred to Palmyra.
In addition to the demining units, the squad included a canine unit with mine detection dogs.

Background of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation: The demining squadron of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is fully autonomous and equipped with the most modern demining and protection kits (selective portable induction mine detectors IMP-2С, portable searchers for wired control lines for explosive devices PIPL, portable detectors for inline explosive devices INVU-3M, combined-arms sets of mine clearance (ОВР-2) and life support (autonomous power supply installations, field kitchens, tents for military personnel accommodation).
