Joint headquarters training of the unified air defense system of Russia and Belarus began
The ministry noted that the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Russia and Belarus, which is being created, is constantly being improved and allows us to efficiently resolve issues of joint protection of the western air borders of both countries, to fully control the use of airspace.
Also today, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has approved changes and additions to the agreement creating an air defense system with Russia.
The decree of the Belarusian leader is published on the National Legal Internet portal and takes effect from the date of signing.
November 2 The Minsk Protocol 2016 was signed, clarifying some of the wording of the agreement.
Thus, the notion of a “threatened period” was replaced by a “period of direct threat of aggression”, implying a military-political situation in which Russia or Belarus could be attacked by “any state or group of states”.
The Treaty on the joint protection of the air border of the Union State and the creation of the Unified Regional Air Defense System was signed in 2009. Last year, Russia and Belarus completed the formation of a common air defense and switched to joint combat duty.
