New 2017 weapons: Twenty-five KGS-25 charging rifle
The design of the gun KGS-25
By and large, the designers of KEL TEC did absolutely nothing but lengthening the barrel and the shops weapons, but the construction of this does not become less interesting.
The gun is assembled in the bullpup layout, which is not such a frequent occurrence for guns. Thus, the maximum compactness of the weapon is achieved, although with respect to the KGS-25 the word compactness is clearly not applicable. Under the barrel of the gun there are two tubes that are shops. Each tube accommodates 12 12 caliber cartridges with a 70 sleeve length of millimeters or 10 cartridges with a sleeve length of 76 millimeters, that is, a fully loaded gun will be able to shoot 24 times.
The KGS-25 gun has no automatics, reloading is carried out manually by the handle to hold the weapon or by the shank. Equipment stores, as well as the release of spent cartridges produced through the hole behind the pistol grip.
Despite the unusual design of the gun nothing revolutionary in it. In fact, a well-known construction was used, to which one more store was added. Cartridges are used first from one store tube, then from another, switching between stores is carried out by an arrow manually using a switch located behind the pistol grip.
This decision allows you to make a small, but quick choice between the used ammunition. For example, between shot and bullet cartridges. Or between shotguns and cartridges with a rubber bullet, which would be relevant for law enforcement agencies.
Another interesting feature of the gun is that you can lock both stores, while the trigger mechanism and reloading system remain operational. That is, you can insert a separate ammunition directly into the chamber, which can also be useful in certain situations.
The safety of the handling of weapons is ensured only by a button fuse located above the pistol grip of the gun.
In order to mitigate recoil when firing, the rear part of the gun has a rubber pad, although there is no great need for this.
Aim devices at the gun removable, fasten on two landing guides on a receiver and over a weapon trunk. In addition, there is an additional guide under the trunks to install additional devices. It is not entirely clear for what purpose a weapon is equipped with such long guides, rather more for the overall appearance than for real need, but as it is, it is.
It should also be said why the name of the gun uses the number 25. The fact is that the manufacturer notes separately that a maximum of KGS-25 can be equipped with 25 cartridges, according to 12 in each store and one in the chamber.
Characteristics of the gun KGS-25
In order to assess the whole scale of this gun, it is enough just to say that the barrel length is 77,5 centimeters, while the total length is slightly less than a meter. The weight of a gun without cartridges is equal to 4,2 kilogram, if we estimate on average, then the weight with cartridges equals about 5,2 kilogram.
Pros and cons of a gun KGS-25
The main advantage of weapons, as stated by the manufacturer, is the capacity of the stores. The real plus is the ability to select the store from which the cartridges will be fed. The long barrel of the gun also can not be assessed as a plus, as it will more efficiently use the powder charge of the cartridge.
The weapons may have few drawbacks, but they are significant. First of all, it is worth noting the weight of the KGS-25 gun, but keep in mind that the design of the weapon is such that the weight is distributed more or less evenly, at least as long as the stores are filled with ammunition. The length of the gun almost a meter in the layout bullpup also seems redundant. However, here you can find a positive moment, in the end, such a "fool" can be used as a club, and it is very effective.
In general, the idea of creating such a weapon seems a bit absurd. Manual reloading gun, heavy, with a magazine capacity of more than 20 ammo. For the civilian market, such a weapon is clearly not necessary, since it is very difficult to find a use of it, except for entertaining shooting. The use of such weapons in the army or law enforcement agencies is also clearly not justified, it is difficult for a twenty-shotgun to come up with a task to reveal its full potential. However, there is a really justified niche for such weapons - cinema. Just like in the movies, they like big heavy guns, and with a twenty-shot gun you can even set the task for the main character to clean up a small building and no one will blame the fact that there are infinite ammo in the weapon.
Most likely, the KGS-25 rifle will never find its niche even in the civilian market. The situation could be corrected if the manufacturer revised the design of the gun and introduced automatics into it, making the weapon self-loading, this would significantly add to KGS-25 popularity. Ideally, it would be if such a gun at all had the ability to conduct automatic fire. Conversely, it would hardly have found its definite niche in the market, but this would have ensured its high popularity, since the firepower would be simply unthinkable, although unjustified.
Like it or not, such a weapon with any tricks simply remains an unusual gun and nothing more. No one will argue that a large number of cartridges in the store is very good, but when the overall usability suffers from this, then this is clearly a negative phenomenon.
