Information and analytical channel Savik Shuster from tomorrow stops its broadcasting on the territory of Ukraine. We are talking about the cable TV channel 3S.tv, which often expressed a point of view that is different from the point of view of the structures of the current Independence Square. The general director of the TV channel, Pavel Elizarov, said that there is no money to continue the work of the channel, and that "the people of Ukraine are not yet ripe for the perception of independent TV."
From the message of Elizarov in the social network:
Unfortunately, tomorrow is the last day of broadcasting our channel on the satellite. Thank you all for your support, but we are critically few. Probably, we have overtaken time. Society and business do not yet feel the need for independent media; they are ready to consume the pre-made oligarchic channels. Free journalism, as pure water for the body, is urgently needed by the emerging state.
Recall that in January of 2016, a criminal case was initiated against Schuster and the media company he headed in Ukraine, allegedly in connection with tax evasion. On the central TV channels of the country, the show of the Shuster.Live talk show was stopped, after which Savik Shuster decided to switch to using a satellite channel for his show.
For reference: in 2012, under the “bloody Yanukovych” (an epithet often used on Shuster’s trademark), Savik Shuster was awarded the title of Honored Journalist of Ukraine. Now Shuster calls the current president of Ukraine Poroshenko "the man in whom he was mistaken."
Schuster:
Yes. Poroshenko is not a European politician.
Previously, Schuster was engaged in journalism in Russia. In 1992, he headed the Moscow Directorate of Radio Liberty.
